Finally got around to fitting the winter wheels and tyres to my 330i.
No photo as they are the same awful Style 158s as my summers!
Will admit I never bother with mine - the PS5s seem to grip well in any conditions I'd be happy taking the car out in, and if it gets dicey I've got an old Civic for that.No photo as they are the same awful Style 158s as my summers!
Mind you round here to keep mobile all winter it's not winter tyres I need - it's a bloody snorkel.
Changed spark plugs and reset adaptations on the N53 today, which seems to have resolved the final small misfires (finally). They hadn't been changed since the leaking injectors had been replaced so were pretty sooty. Have been chasing misfires for the past 2 years so hopefully that puts it to bed for quite a while!
Treating it to a Xmas present of ZF box service and new PS4's on the rear next week (which I'm sadly quite excited about).

Started the Brembo 340mm brake caliper refurb too
Got them deep cleaned, flatted back, panel wiped and then primer'ed to begin with
Made a DIY paint booth in my powercube and utilised 2 unused/but old mackerel feathers I had hanging off my work bench for some reason 100lb monofilament, the caliper isn't going anywhere

Not been able to train due to my health currently; but the powercube in my garage has come in very handy for re spraying the Brembo 340mm brake calipers
All done now; they’re not perfect, but they look well. Lacquered up now and just need to fully dry and then I’ll strip out the old bleed nipples and add the new ones and sand off some of the parts on the inside where they didn’t need to be painted

Thought about chopping in the M140i for a dabble on a low mileage used G87 M2. They’re porky but Lichfield has a 620 bhp ECU tune that now makes it a belter for the money @ circa £48K.
If you can afford it, I wouldn't even think about it, get it bought already. They feel far from porky to drive.danb79 said:

Great job, I've painted calipers a few times now but using engine enamel applied by brush. With sufficient prep they came out reasonably well but not as oem looking as yours. What laquer did you use?All done now; they’re not perfect, but they look well. But with the Brembo calipers being alu and bigger/smoother; I wanted to spray them. So I’ve used Jelonite etch primer, Jelonite silver calipers spray paint and then Jelonite HT lacquer
Some of the lacquer has reacted slightly on the back of the calipers; but not fussed re that as you can’t see it
I many flat them back with some 1500/2000 wet n dry tomorrow and give them another dusting, but will see how they are once they’ve fully dried tomorrow
Just when I was celebrating solving the misfire conundrum and gaining silky shifting after a 'box service, I now have a sticking rear caliper.
What's the consensus on new vs refurbished? Autodoc have new ATE calipers at ~£120 each, are there any other brands to consider? Best place for sourcing refurbs? It's an E92. The discs were pretty worn and scored before this so will get them replaced too.

Full refurbed ones from Brakes International would be my go to.What's the consensus on new vs refurbished? Autodoc have new ATE calipers at ~£120 each, are there any other brands to consider? Used them for decades now, never any issues and it’ll more than likely be an ATE brake caliper that you get back (or TRW)
Look on their website and see what they have in
Pagid would be a good bet also

I picked up front calipers from there for my E46 for £40 ea
Eurocarparts/Autodoc were all over £100
