Got caught short in it yesterday when the yellow oil warning came on when I was about 8 miles from home - rather than nurse it home thought I'd pick up a litre from a petrol station.

29 fking quid!

Cheaper than a new engine obviously, but still!

That’s a good idea, my boot floor isn’t flat so the brollie doesn’t fit right.

Cleaned the e39 for the last time. Hopefully the new owner is picking it up at the weekend. I ve had it for 11 years and it s a lovely old thing but I need an estate and I just don t have the inclination to spend my weekends fixing cars any more. Really sad to see it go, lots of great holiday memories but it s going to an enthusiast so hopefully it will be looked after.

Wow! Never thought I'd see the day squire... You selling yours and me buying another one recently laugh

Yours has done you a superb service - hopefully it'll sell easy enough smile
New owner collected this morning, came all the way down from near Manchester to Kent for it. He’s already booked an appointment at a body shop to get the paint sorted. Nice guy, sad to see it go but tbh it’s a relief as I’ve got so much going on with work/kids/diy/training that working on old cars has become a complete chore I could do without.

Just back from hols and i see our Z4 has been dropped back down by our local indy - new rear discs and (presumably) pads fitted. That will sort out the juddering. driving

The two scuffed alloys will be next. Will get that booked in around Mrs Thoughts inter country commutes.

I think I’ve done over 100 miles before with the oil level warning before. Especially not to spend £30! hehe I can tell you my dad did bloody loads of miles with his X5 asking for oil too, usually with a request for me to add some too.

Not sure if it’s an option or not, but me E91 has a built in brolly holder in the same spot!

Nipped into London this morning, Kentish Town so not right into the centre. Decided to take the back roads in the BMW. Nice sunny, if chilly drive. Quietist road in London for a brief period!

Ouch!

Knowing how my N52 330i goes through oil I always keep checking the level on the dash and chuck 500ml in before it gets too low.

Belt and braces approach means I carry a litre bottle (decanted from a bigger container) in the boot just in case!

Was it the 'add +1 litre' warning?

Was it decent oil at least?

Yeah, my boot-based bottle got used the other day. Literally pulled up at home after it had failed its MOT and then asked for oil - the cheek of it!

I keep a little bottle in mine too, I don't like the oil not being at the correct level on the dash biggrin

Thanks. I believe my 2014 F01 730d requires 5w30 LL04 oil, I've just searched their website but cant find them selling it.

Thanks, might just buy their 1L bottle to keep in the car, though clearly the 5L is better value.

Oil/filter change done on the 6.

Negative points to the garage that did the last service.

Sump plug was done up TIGHT. And this was the state of the air filter.

Trying out the Ceratec in the 6 as well.

Was considering doing the spark plugs but can't be arsed might rain.

Just use any 5W30 or 5W40 that meets LL04 specs; no need to spend silly money. Stick with Mahle, Hengst, Mann or gen. BMW filters

I've used oil from TripleQX (Eurocarparts brand) to Fuchs to Liqui Moly to Millers etc - makes little to no difference. Keeping it fresh is whats paramount

If you only need a couple of litres for top up purposes, best I've found is Tesco - usually very cheap and mine uses less of it than the posh stuff from petrol stations - yes the £30 per litre stuff.

EBC get some bad vibes but these Racing RP-1 rear pads have been uber good on the M140i for track work. Easy to swop out.
