I agree, I'll look for a garage that can agree to fit parts that I specify, as I guess they would usually prefer to default to their normal brands.
FYI brakes are very easy - very doable DIY - buy the parts yourself and get them fitted. It's a satisfying job smile

Do I specifically need a BMW friendly garage to get tyre pressure monitoring sensors coded/changed?
I changed the standard 19 inch wheels on my M2 to a set of M2 CS 763M alloy wheels. They came fully built, with tyres and TPMS sensors.

Did nothing other than put them on the car and they worked. Had to do the check tyre pressures thing and drive the car for a few mins to pick up the details.
To answer my own question... I had a grade fit TMPS valves to my spare se too wheels, they asked me to bring the car back to them once I had fitted the wheels so they could code them to my car. I fitted the wheels and got the low tyre pressure alert on the dash/info screen so I performed the tyre pressure reset on the iDrive and it detected the valves and all is well, so no need to return to the garage, smile

I popped down to C&M at The Hut - someone turned up in a near identical M635CSi…

X5 is finally in for the front right wheel bearing today.

Hopefully that'll sort the DSC/ABS/4x4 fault!

FFS.

Half way en route I get a low oil add +1litre warning. I think that's a bit odd, oil was at max on Monday when I last used it.

Get out and see this...

Had 1litre oil in boot, topped up (as possible...access is not ideal so spilt some down the side of the engine (*facepalm*) and got to garage without engine stting self. Left VERY apologetic note in the dash to mechanic and have since spoken to him.

Front left so I assume alternator gasket bracket? Cheap part but lots of labour. Told them to take their time...Feel terrible 'dumping' the car like that on them.

Christ, if it is, I’d supply them with the petrol and match myself! N62 in an E70 is about as awkward to work on as it gets.

Given it a quick wash. I have to keep on top of washing it more since I swapped the black diamond cut wheels to silver! hehe

The wheels do look great clean though. cool

I'm not as organised as you are Dan! hehe

I could do with doing it though, because they are starting to mark up a little bit in areas to be fair. thumbup

Time to get em off, washed, dried and then coated wink Doesn't take too long really. Just do a wheel at a time and use Gtechniq C5 - its good stuff and it goes a long way

I'm hoping to do my 2 rear wheels over the weekend, I have a sticky caliper to resolve first though, hopefully it just a case of cleaning up the slide pins as it only started a few days ago and did free itself a couple of times.
