Looks good - what products did you use?
Thanks. I have a DA polisher, with 3" sanding discs for the lower grits, then used a 5" polish pad with liquid polish (Menzerna) for the higher 2 grits.

Went 400, 800, 1200, 3000, 3500, then some Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection to seal it. Each light maybe 30 mins.

It looks worse before it gets better, trust the process!

This is after 400

Exactly what I did to my E39; but I did the wet sanding by hand and then polished with my DA

I think I'll do it again but with the DA and will get a 3" pad etc

Anyway I've had another look this morning. No mayo on the oil filler cap and coolant is still on max after doing 20 miles or so last night so it seems to be behaving. One thing I did notice though, is it says on the radiator cap to turn it until it clicks, which mine isn't doing. I can't say it feels particularly tightly done up either, so am going to pop to BMW later on and see if they have a radiator cap.

I've seen I can get them on Amazon, but will stick with Genuine BMW for this.
The lack of loss again is good, so that’s encouraging. I’d also get a genuine one. I bought a non genuine one from GSF years ago for my 328ci, and it was crap. The two way valve was faulty, so it would suck the top red hose flat when the engine cooled down.

I spent the day trying to work out where the creaking noise was coming from. Finally located it to the sunroof, apparently a common issue. Watched a YouTube video of how to solve the problem, I cleaned the seals and it’s now not as bad. I need to apply some silicon grease as well. It looks like the previous owner also got pissed off with the noise as there seems to be a lot of grease in the tracks.

Whilst it's only a cap the cooling system in these is pretty stressed as it is so didn't want to cheap out.

Just fitted the new one - can't say it's a more convincing fit than the old one but let's see how it goes. Coolant is still on max so it didn't lose any yesterday either, despite doing a lot of town work.

Quick contactless wash to rid some bird crap as usual (that time of year)...

Wheels thoroughly cleaned and tyres treated with Gyeon Q2 and glass treated with BH trace-less

Got all the bits for the belts to be refreshed. Water pump was £700 originally, managed to get it for £450 in the end so that was a result. Track car has taken a little longer to get prepped for Bedford so the M3 is going in tomorrow now. Hopefully get it back before the weekend.

Is that all - my E38 has a 95 litre tank and if you are silly/lucky/rich enough to buy an Alpina B10 BiTurbo that has about 120 litres and an M1 has about 130-ish litres rofl

MOT for the E91 today. Also having the control arms done at the same time.

Awaiting updates on the X5 repair.

Yesterday removed the CCC iDrive from the 6 Series.

Not the worst job in the world actually. Have found somewhere to send off for repairs.

Now left with a gap.

By hand?! Are you mental! It took long enough with a machine, and still wasn’t perfect

Haha only took me about an hour; they weren't that bad; more dull than anything... The E39 headlights are fairly easy though and they come out with just 4 bolts being undone - so no need for loads of masking etc

12 months MOT on the E39, work to get it through and test fees came to £475. Not too bad for a years straight six motoring.

I've got a puncture. Luckily parked on the drive. Pumped it up and it went down again over night. I Will shop for two 275/35 R19 Tyres when I get back from holiday. Currently have 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S and will replace with those or the Ps5.

Unlucky - I would probably go with the PS4S as the 5 is just a High Performance tyre rather than an Ultra one like the 4S, so likely won't have the same grip as the existing ones.

The 5s are good tyres (I have them all round on the E82) but I'm told the ones you already have are even better.

Speaking of tyres, E91 needs tyres.

Going to ditch the RFTs and have decided to try Goodyear Vector All Seasons.

Bring on the winter snow!

Lovely stuff; superb tyres. On both my E39 and our F31 now

Wouldn't run any other tyre for UK winters personally; they do what they need to do very well indeed

Check Asda Tyres & Halfords as they had some good deals on recently; if not see what price Camskill have them at

I think I'm one of the few that don't rate the PS5s as mush as the PS4s and the PS4S are, IMO, much better than the PS5s

Absolutely loved them on my previous 130i and would absolutely have them again

Camskill had them at a great price when I got mine; might be worth a look
