Cheers squire; appreciated smile

Although I have discovered a rattle this evening coming back from the gym, I'll investigate tomorrow, think it's the glovebox/in that area

Did you get any further with this? It running with no MAF is a good sign, suggesting an air leak or that one of the sensors is bad. Contrary to common belief, improved idle with the MAF unplugged doesn't mean that the MAF is bad (although it's possible), it just means that the ECU runs with a fixed map so it's much less sensitive to various inputs.

I'd start by having a good check around for any air leaks as that would cause a very poor idle if it's significant enough, and you'd see a big improvement in idle with the MAF disconnected.

Good luck!
She survived, I only needed to unplug the MAF to get it to restart after removing the plugs, as the DME was recording;

DME -> 08/B1 - Air mass flow sensor signal, short circuit to positive

Once it started I reconnected the MAF and it's been all good since.

Took the car to my local specialist this morning to give it a once over and they gave her a clean bill of health bar a weaping radiator drain valve, which is now on order and will be replaced on my next visit.

I also treated the 530i to a set of new speakers front and rear, though opted for some Pioneer TS-A1371F

Fitted the rears last night and they fit and sound perfect.
Very nice wink I did exactly the same thing yesterday before I buttoned the rear up but went with Fosgate ones via Amazon - they sound really well to be fair; I do have a Carphonics upgraded BM54 though, so that does make a difference too

What adapters will you use for the fronts?

I have visions of you having spent the night pulling the dash and interior out to find the rattle, such is your commitment to perfection!

hehe

beer

Do you daily it by the way? If so, how do you feel about it being exposed to the winter elements?

haha don't... I think I know where it is; just need to get round to doing it, but not today; todays a day for my body to let me know its not happy and on the bloomin tramadol already banghead

Re the car; I work from home, so it's literally a weekend driver

I've already had each corner apart, arch liners out, deep cleaned, dried and treated with BH Dynax UB in the sill ends, jacking points etc and then Dynax UC for the inner arches and new suspension parts

I'll do it again once we're back from The Highlands mid next month and getting ready to fit the 18s, so it'll be an excuse to take it all apart again so I can coat the Bilstein B14s too, to protect them etc

I upgraded my BM54 via Baris @ Carphonics back in Jan 2020, so the speaker upgrade has been long over due.

Adapters for the front aren't required from what I can see if staying with 5.25" (130mm) speakers, I can only see adpators being needed if fitting larger 6.5" (165mm) speakers

I’d lost (ripped off) my front splitter and damaged an undertray in the recent snow so repaired the undertray but trying to take the front wheel off was a nightmare, this is a 1500mm jack handle on a 1200mm breaker bar & it still took all my force to crack them off

Didnt replace the splitter, thats a more involved job when it’s not raining

Newly, fully refurbished bi-xenon headlights fitted. The last piece of the puzzle (well, bar the OEM kidney grilles which I need to unwrap and fit) laugh

They look superb and really lift the front end of the car thumbup

Reminds me of when I first got our F31 back home and wanted to strip the 403Ms off it ASAP; I bent my Draper breaker bar getting the wheel nuts undone; some knobber had obviously windy-gunned them on. Absolutely stupid

I did the OEM front splitter last year too when the wife inadvertently caught a kerb parking and it pulled it off. Fortunately the self tapping screws stayed in it, so I shot up to her work place and put it back on and then replaced it a few days later when the new one landed via BMW eBay

I keep looking at 325ti Compacts, I keep getting memories from the track days I done in my old one. There's one local thats sat with flat tyres, it's a manual too! I have to fight the urge to knock and ask when I'm walking the dog.

Nice, which projectors did you go with?

I sold mine for £1,300 in 2021. It was a mega spec one, too with just over 100k on it. Do I miss it? I can't say I do, but it was great. Put over 40k on it.

I've been known to use a jack on a breaker bar to undo stubborn wheel nuts, it's easier than either hanging off the bar or lifting it by hand if they are really stuck.

I still miss my Imola Red one that I sold for £1,450 in 2018, also with just over 100K miles. The guy who bought it offered it back for £1K a year later, and I still regret saying no!

I just loved it, felt like a sporty little coupe rather than an ugly hatch biglaugh Felt nimble and direct when hooning it about. Like many of us, I want one but I can't be sure on what to use it for, my old one I use for track work but I have a Clio 197 for that now. I'll have to justify it, I've planted the seed with the Mrs so later on in the year she won't be shocked if something arrives.

Red suited them, the one down the road is purple which actually looks quite nice, I think I've only seen one other in that colour.

Compact was nicer to drive than my E46 M3. I could never get to grips with the M3 but my 325ti Compact was a riot around the lanes.
