^ good to hear that you sorted the ingress before it attacked the ECU!
On the disc front, you can just buy cheap calipers to measure the thickness. Did they give you some measurements? The minimal thickness is engraved on the hat of the discs. It's quite a classic earner from dealerships.

My front discs don't look great either, but I've still got 9mm left of pads on them though. So I will be stringing changing them for as long as I can. Beemer always grumble at me for not changing them though!
I'm still not entirely sure why I still go to the main dealer really, especially when the car is 9 years old this year as well.

As for the brakes, I don't doubt there was a more cost efficient way of going about things. But life has proved so comically expensive of late I just figured I'd take the hit, with another other leak being the shower in my house that ultimately required a new bathroom alongside paying off HMRC thanks to a tax error on the part of my former employer. It's safe to say that the most problematic leak I currently have is the one draining my bank account.
Drove the 530i what I thought was a puddle, that turned out to be a lake, that then turned into a tsunami when a bus decided to plow on through.

After waiting 7 hours to recovery, getting towed home, then removing the plugs and fortunatley it still cranked.
A few nerve wrenching first starts, which resulted in poor idle and no throttle control.
Though for some reason, after unplugging the MAF it fired straight up.
Fingers crossed for no lasting damage done.

Blimey! Fingers crossed for you.
I had something similar happen years ago in Manchester but the car didn't miss a beat and just carried on going. Was a mk1 Clio 1.8 16v, with the bonnet scoop. Was making my way through a puddle and some other chump came the other way at full chat. The tidal wave was that big it went over the top of the windscreen!

Oh bluddy'ell! Fingers crossed all is ok!

I did this back in 2019 when we had heavy rains here late mid Sept; we were taking antique furniture from my wife's Nana's house; she'd passed the house had sold and we needed to empty it. So a huge Merc Sprinter with my FiL driving; me with my Jap import touring full of furniture that would fit etc; heading from Clitheroe to Garstang...
Drove on the middle of the road to be on the highest part of the camber; through what I thought was a shallow puddle; nope... Dragged the bottom of the engine through the puddle; ripped the undertray off / snapped it in half and left it be as couldn't see it and there was a lot of traffic both ways

G31 540i. BMW Watford replaced my kombi (cluster) as the whole thing had died! Centre screen was unaffected. Done within the day and under warranty.
With no cluster there is no speedo or gauges. Had to use my own judgement and other cars on M1, even worse if you need to obey 20 limits in central London!

Could have used Google Maps for the speedo; the GPS tells you what speed you're doing etcWith no cluster there is no speedo or gauges. Had to use my own judgement and other cars on M1, even worse if you need to obey 20 limits in central London!
Did some investigation with the 330i after it played up this week.
On Tuesday my wife did the school run and whilst the car was idling, it started shaking a lot. She drove on to work and it was fine but it did it again as she was parking up. It was dine on the way home though. I read the codes and was greeted with these two.

2AA9 was the one that worried me; some seem to get away with just changing the VANOS solenoids and are sorted, but others have timing issues. I spoke to my local indy who said don’t drive it but they can’t see it until 16th February. Great.
I’ve driven to since and couldn’t replicate the shaking and the code did t come back, however 2AA8 did come back which surprised me because I replaced both DISA valves in the summer.
Anyhow, I removed the large DISA and it is indeed shagged.

The flap is flopping around with zero resistance. I’m hoping this explains the rhythmic sound coming fro the intake side of the engine.

Yikes. Extremely annoying as caused by the bus!...

I'm assuming next step is a MAF replacement?
From Wednesday:
Had to put a dehumidifier in the X5.
Wife took kid to McDonald's after swimming on Monday evening.
Weds morning I'm sorting out the bins and notice the driver's side window is half open and the car is unlocked.
I asked her if she'd opened the window on the way home on Monday. "I thought the windows closed when you lock the car". Hmmmm.... 1) Car was unlocked. 2) You have to hold the lock button down anyway!
It had been raining a bit so inside of the door was wet and the seat. Rubber mat caught most of the rain in the footwell. Removed rubber mat and the other mat underneath. Dried in the house. Put a dehumidifier in the footwell.
Oh well, these things happen. Could have been worse as later that day was properly pissing down and if I hadn't noticed the window, car would have been really soaked inside. In the days following, I've not seen any condensation in the windscreen, so couldn't have been 'that' bad.

Sat down with the keys in my pocket and opened the windows unknowingly. Or have simply left them open whilst the cars been up the drive and forgotten etc
Soon dries out

That's the rear interior removed (well; the parts that need to be); the rest can just be undone and moved forward (absolutely no need to remove seatbelts as some How To's tell you to etc)
Parts all loaded into the boot, ready for me to drop the car off with my pals 1st thing tomorrow morning and they'll have it for the week and do the jobs in between others

My current fleet.
The 330d front offside tyre was losing pressure; two bulges suggested a losing fight with a pothole. Now replaced and running fine on 130k miles. Aiming for 200k.
The 645 had not moved much in the last year being for sale (unsuccessfully) for some of that time. Now taxed, with a new battery and some fresh fuel to mix out the old stuff and it's running smoothly - it needs a bit of use.
The Z4 was running a bit lumpy. My Creator gizmo diagnosed a misfire in cylinder 4; new plugs all round and it runs well, just been out in it to bring it to temperature. That just leaves the non-functioning roof following a waterlogged motor; I know a man who knows a man who might have the appropriate software, it's not just plug and play with a replacement motor.
One car needs to go; it will mean a financial hit on the 645 (not the demand there used to be), the Z4 is easier to shift but might mean sharing it with Mrs L if her Merc SLK goes (it's hidden behind the gate and I don't much enjoy driving it).
Went to Rally Prep near Newquay to catch up with the owner (Neil).who has been a huge help in getting my old E30 back from the brink after nigh on 10 years sat in a Bradford lock up. It has fought them a little but it's very nearly MOT time. I had a seat fitting and the period Corbeau seats are just lovely. It may only have an M20 under the bonnet but it sounds so nice. So all being well I should have it home this time next week. After that I'm hoping to make Llandau circuit come April time. Well that's the plan anyway.
