A rather satisfying update on my Z4 today, changing the poor plastic paddles for carbon magnetic ones that have a lovely extremely positive action, larger paddle surface and look pretty good. Easy enough to fit once I got the old paddles blue connectors apart. Just pull the videos said, yeah right, a pair of pliers and lots of agro later they did come part.

Also a pointless but nice red starter button to brighten things up. Oh and a TDI Tuning box to provide the M40i a little more go, very pleased with it so far.

And of course today was a lovely day to take it for a spin,

Ordered a new NS drop link for the F31 - hit a pothole in the dark last night on the way to hospital to see my Dad...

Driving home via the back roads and could hear a clunking at low speeds rolleyes

Wheel off this morning and I could move the drop link far too much

Will replace them both (peace of mind) when the new ones land in a few days...

Least it's just that and not the tyre/wheel (thank goodness for 18s) winkthumbup

I got a low coolant warning on my G31 540 yesterday. Ordered new expansion tanks and caps and had the joy of fitting them today.

According to my research I’ll probably be replacing hoses soon too, and maybe even the rad as they’re all common failures at 80k +

It really does look perfect on those wheels, looks so tidy.

Yup; agree. Looked well; drove superbly too (very impressed with those Hankooks for the 2 weeks I had them) laugh

It's now in Ireland with it's new owner and he's very happy with it; his 3 lads love it thumbup

Christ, I think of a G31 as a new car. Good luck with the job, sounds like BMW decided to stick with chocolate cooling systems (have just done a refresh on my E91).

Interesting. The low coolant issue can often be cured with some silicone grease around the coolant caps o rings, at least that was the case on my 340i and many others I've read about. It looks like you've future proofed it anyway.

Chrome line trim, pretty rare on an E39 M5, only 76 RHD cars.

Yes, this is exactly what I did with mine. Lost a minimal amount again after two years, and confirms that the caps are often the issue.

The Z4 goes back in RE: rear disc issues.

Rear discs and pads were replaced at 15K miles six months ago due to quite bad vvibration under breaking.

This sorted the problem at the time.... but its returning. The car is now at 23K miles.

Really dont know whats happening there. The car gets long long runs - 80 mile each way commutes.

Never had this on a car before.

Local indy says they'll likely be replaced under warranty.

The M4 passed the MOT with an advisory on the rear tyres down at 3mm today. I only put brand new MPS4S on the fronts last week, so the rears can wait a bit I reckon, because I need to save up for them! hehe

Went out in these winds. A 335d is rock-solid in cross winds. Parked up at an airfield, and I could hardly walk for being blown backwards. Opening the car door was a Herculean feat as well.

Change them now if you can Lee - 3mm IMO is the lowest tread to use; after that they're nigh on useless...

They're capable of being nigh on useless on an M4 at 7 or 8mm as well Dan in fairness though! hehe

All joking aside, they do always recommend swapping them at 3mm as you say for sure. thumbup

Big fan of the MPS4S. Ran them on my M2.

My Z4M always gets 4S s apart from that time I had to put 5 s on and hated it!

I must follow up with my complaint for them fitting part worns though, as they never got more than 8k on a set of rears! Diabolical

Said BMW got clay at treatment recently…

The other got a decent clean
