Bought some suspension. Dan, I know you to get Bilstein but I ended getting these for £360 from Autodoc after being patient and waiting for a sale.

Emptied my 340i shadow edition of all contents ready for collection of the replacement BMW tomorrow. Sad to see the car empty knowing I'll not enjoy it after today. Been a fantastic car. cry

Paid £1.73 to fill it up on super! I wonder how long it will be until we're back over £2.00 a litre again? Diesel is pretty much there now as it is anyway.

I'm really glad I brimmed the F31 and my Dad's X3 a few weeks back before this all went tits-up!

Both engines very frugal; and the X3s hardly being used to be fair; it's just sat up the drive out of the way for now

X5 is a traitor. rolleyes

Hadn't used it for about a month (because fuels costs and other cars) so took it for a spin on Saturday.

Didn't feel right, sort of underpowered, juddery in the steering wheel. Braking caused big vibrations in the steering wheel. By the time I got home, front o/s alloy was HOT and brake smell v evident. Looks like sticking caliper. In with the mechanic today.

(And yes, I know cars like to be used...worse thing is having them sitting outside with long periods between use)

Still on the same tank of diesel that I filled up before Trump/Netanyahu and their silly games. Drove to Nottingham and back, 177 miles each way and it still says 278 miles remaining. I usually get 44 mpg, whatever I do. Keeping to 57 to 60 mph in LH plane of d/c and m/way, gave a read out of 58 to 61 mpg.. not bad for a 335d. Back home and will be using the Fabia for local trips until diesel becomes cheaper and/or readily available.

I feel a bit sorry for my eldest daughter in that regard to be honest as well, because she's recently passed her test, and now she's struggling to afford to put petrol in her car because she only works a few hours a week(she's at college full time so works all day Saturday and Sunday).

I did tell her that the fuel bills would catch up with her though, and I've been taking her to work and picking her up for the last 18 months for example(13 miles each way). I used to say to her that all the fuel the goes in the M4 and X5 doesn't come for free, although in her head, she must've thought it did though!

Another day, another electronic failure on my E39.

The headunit display had reverted to MS-DOS which usually means a Nav drive failure but a wise man suggested I plug in the Nav Drive at the TV tuner connection and sure enough the normal display returned meaning the Tv module had failed.

In the last few years these modules have all failed needing replacement; LCM, radio module, headunit, ABS, Nav drive and now TV module.

Fitted my replacement steering wheel retrimmed by Royal Steering Wheels. Feels so much better than my old rubbery one.

2004 Z4 E85

Hopefully found the cause of the airbag warning light last week, but also found that the carpet insulation was soaked. Today saw the carpet out, well 95% of it and not without a fight, to find half an inch of water in the passenger footwell and a hole in each side's footwell when I cleaned the rust off. Yay.

Quick service on the F31 this morning - full Liqui Moly engine flush; drained; refilled with Liqui Moly Molygen 5W40 and Mahle filter, and new Mahle air filter. Engine bay cleaned down as well; as you were... biggrin

Have been trying to clean off 10 years worth of grime from where the E30 was garaged. It's a film of dust and oil or grease so am using some degreaser that came from Aldi. It's so tedious and I'll be glad when it's finished. I'm spreading the job out over a couple of days, as I'm struggling to stay focussed. I appreciate that some people love cleaning and detailing cars. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people. Now that big yellow thing is in the sky, I hope to use my new battery pressure washer thing, as was recommended a bit further back.

As an aside, anyone here ever had a go at DIY flocking?
