Injector Swap 2008 325i se - Am I being ripped off?
Discussion
If all six need changing and if you are paying £217 per injector, then yes, £100 labour assuming it includes coding of each injector isn't bad at all i'd have thought. I'd chuck a new set of plugs and coilpacks in too.
Depends if all six need changing or not, or if the misfire is caused by an injector or a coilpack, or plug, or something else.
All six new injectors is pricey though Thought they were a bit cheaper than £217 though,

Thanks, been told it's just the one (cylinder 1) but since they tend to fail a lot, I might end up in the same position soon , unless I deal with all six of them.Depends if all six need changing or not, or if the misfire is caused by an injector or a coilpack, or plug, or something else.

I could ask for them to fix just that one and sell the car, but that would mean problems for the next owner.
Not sure what to do really.
Personally as far as the injectors go, I'd be checking out Mr Injector to see if they've got a solution:
https://www.mrinjectoruk.co.uk/BMW-C141604.aspx?si...
Or get them all tested and just the faulty one/s repaired:
https://www.mrinjectoruk.co.uk/Fuel-Injector-flow-...
Wouldn't know what to do about the coils etc, however.

Presuming we are talking n53 here, google will help you a lot before you drop 1.5k on it. The index number on the injectors is written on the top right hand corner. Easily seen if you pop the lid off, x4 screws. Index 11 is latest. You very likely do not need all six if they are already index 11 so just replace the one duff one. IF - IF its duff. Could be a coilpack. Move the coilpack to cylinder 5 and see if the misfire follows.
Bimmerprofs has a lot of info too.
Personally i wouldnt run an older car - especially not a BMW - unless prepared to roll your sleeves up a bit. Not a dig at you, but anyone really who wont research and fix stuff themselves. If reliant on a garage st gets expensive very quickly, often for not a lot more experience and knowledge.
Most of the issues with injectors etc are sorted on these engines by now. BMW UK dealers never really understood them as far as I can tell.
tldr - check the index numbers first, see what youre dealing with. Be very sure its an actual injector (cold start misfire usually) fault before comitting. Wouldnt trust a garage.

Seems the injector number should be 7531634.
Nope. Completely wrong type.See here: https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/threads/changing-in...

Happy to be corrected, OP's getting somewhere now if they want to save £1500.ReverendCounter said:

I AM getting somewhere, thank you everyone! I have done some digging and thanks to you all I now have some understanding of how this stuff works and what I will need to do. Yes, me 1) These injectors just fail, look for index 11 ones
2) Check what is currently installed
3) Probably swap the whole bank since they would all need to be the same index (per bank).
Planning on getting my hands dirty:
1) Read the code and confirm it's injector 1
2) Swap injectors 1 and 2 and check the code again - is it 10 NM on the 10mm screws that hold the rail?
3) Replace injectors 1, 2 and 3 (find a good deal first!)
4) Aaand done. Just sit and wait for bank 2 to fail
Move the _coilpack_ first before moving any injectors.
Start with the easier stuff. Its a process of elimination and fault tracking:
The misfire could be coilpack, spark plug, or injector (or broken valve spring, scratched bore, holed piston...).
EDIT just re read your OP and if that cylinder is not firing at all it is unlikely to be a faulty injector as they usually leak and overfuel on startup if sat over night etc. Not firing at all id check coilpack (move it) and wiring is properly seated - not unusual for the clip to pop of coilpack.
Obvs read codes too.
Good thing is cylinder 1 is the easiest one to deal with
If coilpack is ok and plug is ok, my thoughts are DME fault rather than injector itself, because the injectors do not usually die, but rather just work badly.

My son has an 08 325i. We spent weeks and weeks diagnosing, swapping injectors, reading every word on bimmerprofs.com, getting far too adept at using INPA.
Very long story short, he spent a few hundred on various attempts to fix before £1700 on getting all 6 injectors changed at a local indie.
Then the ABS reluctor rings died and it cost another couple of hundred.
Fingers crossed, it's running OK now.

Work in progress, was waiting for a warmer day. Am I 100% ok to swap 1&2, was thinking about firing sequence and all that...
Also it seems something has made a nest or am I seeing things? :P
Swap 1 and 2 what? If you swap the coilpacks, but leave the leads/wires going to the respective places then the fire order will not be affected. You need to move the coilpacks not swap the leads, basically. Sorry if granny just spat out a boiled egg. Also it seems something has made a nest or am I seeing things? :P
Secondly, i'd take a closer look at that nest and see what wiring is affected - if the injector 1 lead goes via that, i think you might have found the fault.
