Are there any issues with convertible roofs in the 2 series? I'm looking to buy a 3 year old 218 and was wondering if I'm going to have any issues with the roof.... I intend using it as often as possible. Any thoughts?

I’m not really aware of any.

BMW have been making cabs for ages and they seem to age pretty well. We’ve recently bought a 2009 125i and the roof on that is fine other than needing a bit of a clean due to minor algae growth. It’s still water tight, surprisingly warm on cold days and go’s up and down when asked to. So far, I bloody love it.

I had an M240i convertible for just under 2 years ... worked faultlessly. No rattles or creaks from the roof or anything for that matter ... and I used to put it down as often as possible. It was a great car.

The 2 series cabs have a great reputation, its the earlier 1 series cabs ( 2008 > 2013 ) that used to suffer water in the boot / battery.

Very rare to find an issue with the latest 2 series cab, however, the sharkfin aerial on the boot top has allowed ingress on a few models so always check the boot for water. Easy fix if it happens but believe this is very rare. Worth having your drain holes blasted by an independent specialist every few years, had mine done for £48 and water runs free to the underside of the car without getting blocked / sitting in the crevices of the mechanism around the window. ( One I used is a well known one in Redhill called Cayman ).

I have just prepped mine this week and put a layer of Bilt Hamber DS Wax at work this evening - looking forward to the drive home.
