They can’t do it on a Saturday. I’m in Surrey. It’s too much driving to knock off in a day.
Ah, Surrey is quite a stretch. Suppose if it's trailered you then get an easy method of being able to take the old one back off the dealer and sell it on to reclaim some of the cost of the trailer etc.Comacchio said:
Not sure where you all are in the UK, but hypothetically a trip from say, Birmingham to Hamilton is about a tank and a half of fuel, so £150 thereabouts, 4.5 hours each way with maybe 2 hours max for fitting - easily doable on a Saturday if they can accommodate you. Spend your 2 hours browsing the showroom then pop next door to McLaren and Bentley also.
I asked Crewe if it could be done on a Saturday morning out of interest and they said they’d need the car for a full day.
A bit of caution if travelling. On the odd occasion the coding can go fubar, so you may be looking at a second day. Likewise I've heard of folk having to return. Bluebell Crewe were traditionally the best on price for years, followed by Reading - all around the £1200 mark and both knew their stuff but times have moved on. Bournemouth quoted me daft money (my local stealer)
Had one fitted to my 440i / 2017 reasonably soon after purchase in mid 2018 for £1700 from cooper reading.
They held on to the old parts and I managed to sell the old exhaust outlet for £150 or so. Just make sure they don’t cut it (for you to take with you) but if they do cut it, for transport, to do in a certain place presumably where there’s an existing joint that can be re-welded.
Best mod ever although in terms of timing, I’ll always remember dropping it off at 7am on a fine Saturday morning in May. After walking to McD and some local reading shopping estate down the road from the dealership, I had the joy of watching most of the Harry / Megan wedding live on every channel at the dealership LOL.
I don’t think I was out until 2pm tbh - per the above posts it was the coding that took the time.
Highly recommend it though - sounds as it should have done when it left the factory in my opinion and a shame newer B58 derivations can’t have it done.

If anyone else on this thread fancies the exhaust and remap let me know. May involve a trip to Scotland but of two/three people want it the price may drop a bit more.
I’d normally be up for that, but I just don’t really have time for the trip at the moment. Because of that, I’d rather find it for £1500 more locally but I can’t find anywhere so far that will do it for less than £1700. I even have family in Glasgow, so would be ideal to make a weekend of it, but the dealer doesn’t seem to be able to do it on a Saturday morning (which I can kind of understand), so just can’t make it work right now. Shame as it’s a bargain in Hamilton.
At the point I purchased and had it fitted all for £1700, I called my closest two dealers who were quoting £3k+.
I had a full aero kit supplied and fitted from Cheltenham BMW where similarly, my closest two dealers wanted 50% on top of whatever I paid back in the day.
I think it’s something to do with bulk purchases - Cheltenham are known for reasonably priced parts, as are bluebell Crewe etc. Cooper Reading happened to have bought a load of the MPPSKs so were doing them at a decent price a while ago. Unfortunately don’t expect similar prices at your local.

You guys should have another chat with Bluebell Crewe and The Reading BMW dealership/ Marshalls Bournemouth, Unless BMW have stopped them discounting the MPPSK in the last year or so, Start the conversation with........ ' I have been quoted £1220 fitted from a dealer miles away and would like to use you as you are a lot closer, and I have heard great things about your dealership...........I'm also looking for somewhere to do all my servicing of mine and my wife's BMW's.... Reading BMW have (had) a great guy who worked in parts and was always keen to price match the MPPSK, Just wish I could remember his bloody name,... Marshalls BMW fitted mine and were the cheapest, It was worth the drive from Liverpool and the Hotel overnight costs, It did take around 6-7 hours to fit though as the coding can be problematic.. Twas a great drive home though .

Perhaps I should have another go with Crewe - but as I previously mentioned, they are not Bluebell anymore and are under the Lookers dealer network and they didn't seem that enthusiastic - it made me wonder if there had also been a considerable staff change.Edited by mr sagman on Wednesday 6th July 03:38
