On a i8, the belts are not replaced as routine items now, at any mileage, I asked at my last service.

So are you just expected to drive until they break? - meaning big bill.

02/10/2020 Health Check and Service - drive belts checked 35,176 - but no mention of service since? And its at 64,062 miles in Jan 2023?
That’s how I read it, has it really not been serviced for 3 years and 30k miles?

Yes been serviced twice in the 30k.

Belts not replaced as deemed ok.

Had also inspections, and no recommendation to replace the belts.

Agreed, I have been in warranty for 15+ years, this will go nowhere, they would have checked the belt before refitting it.
Should have / could have / would have.

Who knows,

warranty on the engine will only apply if the previous owner contributed to the cost. If it was fully done under bmw warranty or goodwill there is no warranty on it.

OP I suspect as someone else said it wasn't actually the belt that let go. It does seem some poor workmanship along the way but proving it and getting compensated for it is another matter.

BMW have made some idiotic decisions about the service lifespan. Starting from 18K oil change intervals, and that you don't need to replace the automatic transmission fluid ...

l think it's sealed it for me. My car is 5 years old, still under warranty. - will probably pay for a belt change at the next oil service. Peace of mind, ish.
