My current project; Z3 2.8 on staggered style 5s. It's a rescue project, I bought it with some light crash damage to break then decided it had too much character and was worth saving so I have been gradually putting it right mechanically, just the cosmetic side to go now.
You were right. These got a bad rep, but I think they will be re-loved at some point (especially when they look like that)!

I agree but maybe it's my age, and full black kidneys are the in thing now for some reason.

Yeah, I've made a few changes since I got it last year, it arrived on Style 32s, most of last year it was on 90s Rial wheels but the Style 5s are the ones. I added the roll hoops and smoked side markers and wing indicators so it looks less cluttered. It came decatted but I've fitted a 100 cel race cat that despite being the most minimal cat out there, makes it run cleaner than with the factory one. Next up is some more engine mods, I'd love to do a 4.4 conversion but the expense is prohibitive so a stroker build may be on the cards...

Loving this! I was contemplating doing the same thing with a Z3, but I suspect I'd end up keeping it!

FYI the aluminum paddles from an E90 M3 are plug and play if you want Right to be Up and Left to be Down. 5 minute job, no coding etc required.

Its a world of difference smile

Ok thanks. They're up and down on both sides on my 981 too. TBH I never use them.

So here's my 4th BMW. First being a 98 316i compact. Moving onto a 04 2.5 Z4, a 120d M Sport Coupe (had to get a diesel for work... But my god it gave me issues. Wasn't sad to see it go) now I'm into one of the cars I really wanted to own.

It's a 530i sport. 107k on clock. Not used an auto before but my god it's easy to drive. Can see why they say it's one of the best BMW's ever.

Needs a bit of work like fixing rust spots and scratches. Fix PDC sensors front and rear. Fix crack in front bumper.

I Sold the m135i (F20 LCI) a couple of weeks ago and have replaced it with an M4 F82. I finally gave in to my temptations. Ive wanted one since they came out and was going to go Yas Marina but I decided something a bit different was the right thing to do.

so Ive ended up with San Marino Blue and Sakir red interior which actually really works. its like the blues and royals horse guards.
110hp more than the m135i so no surprise it is quick! For sure it can chew back tyres which the 322hp m135i actually had pretty good traction. The engine noise sounds reasonably good, its not m3 v8 goodness but its quite a barky 6 cylinder. Very different from the m135i. I do like both noises. Exhaust is standard and probably wont fiddle as its a daily car and no need for that at the moment.
the composure over bumps versus the m135 is significant. It rides a lot better and is more settled over b roads which I like.

Aside from the performance mods that were on the car when I got it, ive added/done the following.

-New rear discs and pads, F20 135i m sport front brakes and brake fluid change
-Rear boot lip and rear diffuser
-Had window trim repainted
-Service inc oil/filter, rocker cover gasket, spark plugs and gearbox oil service
-Gloss black kidney grills

Very happy with it.

That looks really smart, I prefer the styling to the M2's.
