The best thing is you know what the damage was, which doesn't look bad at all. That's a car I'd never sell, especially as it owes you nothing. I do enjoy the E39 sports and a V8 to boot!

My old baby... Had it from new but was stolen off my drive in 2012:

Was it ever found?
Unfortunately not.

Apparently it was spotted about two weeks later on a security camera somewhere in Wales where it had been used in a "commercial robbery" but on false plates.

I asked the police how they knew it was my car and they informed me that the contents of my boot, including the original plates had been found in a layby about half a mile away from the crime. So all I got back was the plates, my service book and an empty laptop case...!

I often wonder what actually happened my Alpina - it was immaculate and I had just had it machine polished and new Pilot Sport tyres fitted.. Probably broken up and ebayed off?

Exactly that, had the old battlebus 4 years now and looking at what else I could have for the cash I saw nothing much of interest.

Only threat is Sadiq Khan, I live on the border of he proposed expansion zone so could be uneconomical for me to keep it in a couple of years time (£12.50 each time I drive it), but as out say it owes me nothing (£3k 4 years ago, £2k in running costs inc servicing and tyres over the 4 years and paid out £5.5k), cost me £1,500 to get back on the road (inc. salvage buyback) so I can't complain and I'll be a lot less precious about it.

Saw a tiny rust scab starting on a sill and the wheels need a refurb (laquer peel) but before where I would have got it sorted immediately I'm a lot less precious about it now!

Next I am in gods country I really want to see this thing mark. I tend to be about 10 mins from St Agnes. Prepare for drool all over the paint should it happen though... smile

Theoldfm, I used to live in Hucknall, and then more recently, Watnall. Opposite the British Bakery.

No problem. Funnily enough we have a few nice E30 M3 down here, including ARM's rally car with Drenth sequential box and nigh on 300 brake and Chris Harris' Grp A rally spec' up at Rally Prep near Newquay.

Sorry to hear that OP!

Lovely stealthy car you have there - just glad you got a decent settlement. I'm sure I met you at a Silverstone Sunday Service when you were looking for a wheel-bolt key to change your N/S/F wheel to go home! (I was in a Z4 Coupe, and mine didn't fit)!

Sounds like you are still enjoying your monster though. thumbup

Yep that was me!

Long limp back to Kent when nobody had one that would fit, at least it wasn't raining as that tyre took "slick" to a new level.

Needless to say a replacement was ordered before the car was driven again, collected on the way to get some new tyres fitted!

I've got an 03 e46 320d and was wondering what the signs are that the turbo is on its way out.

My M235i - had it about 6 weeks now. Bought from Litchfield Motors where they used it as their development car. My first proper beemer. A 'few' mods smile

Like that very much. Has it had the map tweaked then?

That Litchfield is really nice, I'm also curious about the mods.

Thanks. The thing I like about Iain Litchfield's work is that most of it is beneath the skin. So, apart from sitting slightly lower it looks standard (M Performance bits aside).

do I really want to list all the mods?!..................................

.....oh go on then!

Quaife diff, AST5100 suspension, Radtec Intercooler, Eibach front and rear anti-roll bars, custom Akrapovic exhaust, Litchfield 400bhp remap plus a few other bits. Also has M Performance front splitter, rear diffuser, side blades and rear carbon boot spoiler. Plus a load of BMW option packages that I don't understand!

Apparently these cars are the same size of the older M3s (which I find amazing). But I have to say the proportions are spot on.

Imola red 635d. Nearly 7.5 years old with 34k on the clock. Still the apple of my eye.
