Picked this up at the weekend. Advertised Thursday, phoned the guy Friday, trip to Glasgow Saturday...
It's a 323i Sport Touring in Sierra Red. Manual, 139k, £750.
If you've kept your eye on E36 prices lately you might see this as a bit of a bargain. It's got heated leather too, so I was pretty excited to say the least.
It's got to be the rustiest BMW I've ever owned though. The sills and underside aren't too bad but the doors, bootlid, and wings are far from perfect.
The interior is exceptionally clean though! The engine and running gear are as you'd expect, perfect.
Plan is to run around in the car for a few weeks and see if it proves itself worthy for a restoration. In good fettle, I believe it could be a £3k car.

Strange question - is that at Hoover Dam?Way too hot for a convertible though when I was there. It was touching 43degrees!

That's proper lovely. I never had an E36, sometimes wonder if I should have; in the right spec and good nick, they're properly lovely. Most have either rusted away or been Barry'd to hell, or both. Good ones are getting very rare indeed. Please keep and restore it!It's a 323i Sport Touring in Sierra Red. Manual, 139k, £750.

The build quality definatly started to decline on the production of the E36 conpared to the E30's and the beginning of the dreaded wheel arch corrosion which was passed on to the E46 when BMW entired the mass production market.! So yes good unmolested E36's are now few and far between and fast becoming a modern classic...But i suppose i would say that wouldn't i..

Just watched your video on this Danny. Is that boot lid repairable?? The rust looked pretty dire. It's a 323i Sport Touring in Sierra Red. Manual, 139k, £750.

That's the plan. The only issue is I have zero history with the car, no books or service receipts. Only one key. I will see how the next few weeks of ownership pan out and make my move.

Definitely not, will need to be replaced. Where do you stop though? If I was getting the bootlid painted, I may as well get the doors and the rear arches done at the same time. A £750 car soon becomes a £2k+ one at that point. Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
