Almost completely untrue.

I had a 2009 e91 335i LCI with the n54 engine and these are £300ish road tax not £580. Even with old school auto box. The manual 335i were all lower road tax. Only the LCI 335i auto were lower tax.
3.0 335i SE 2dr - N54 - 238g/km - £565 to tax.

the N54 is a fantastic engine but on a remap alone it doesn't see as much of an improvement as you would on the N55.

i'm glad you the N54 won awards, it's what is in my Z4 !
You can see some 335i are 500ish and some are 300ish. Its a fine line as these cars produce either just below or just above the threshold.

With the 3 series it was the LCI in September 2008 that brought in the lower tax with the efficient dynamics tech.

But who cars about tax? Even £600 is a drop in the ocean compared to the rest of the running costs
I've got 3 car so I object to paying 3 lots of road tax already. If they were 600 each I wouldn't have them all. I thought the manual was just under the threshold even pre LCI but happy to he wrong. I sought out the auto LCI for the cheaper tax band.

Bit of a project E38 728i Sport with the rare half leather half alcantatra interior.
That is all kinds of lovely, and rare.

My latest BMW purchase, had to get another M5, this one needs a little cosmetic love apart from that it's straight, completely rust free and feels tight and fast.

I spoke to a friend who's wife has the 120D Coupe'. I took it for a spin (almost literally). A few things. Once the drivers seat was back enough for me the back seat was useless. No problem with that, it's one of the reasons I like three door cars. On a normal road the rear end felt lose. Like the subframe bushes were knackered. Every bump in the road the car clunked and twitched. The roads were wet or damp so I had low expectations and as it wasn't my car I weren't willing to push but I could feel the front end starting to give in corners. Not the worse understeer I have ever experienced but a good 5-10mph slower than I expected. Again nothing serious. Decent tyres, polybush set and maybe look at the front geometry. The car was comfortable, heavier than it looked and my thoughts were the 120D is a base model so the M135i should be better anyway.

This morning I woke up and thought. "Right. I'll do it".

Bugger! Sold already.

There's a silver E46 M3 3.2 Coupe' near me for a fiver short of nine grand. I'm not a fan of the E46 but this is basically an E36 Evo with better brakes for half the price. In theory. scratchchin

P.S on the N54 front. My nephew says the N54 and N55 are the modern 3JZ engine. That's about as high as praise gets. wink

i've heard similar - i've only had the car 3 weeks ish but love how effortless it is to make progress, even without kickdown, it's always there.

interestingly - i actually looked at the gear display yesterday.. car in comfort and gearbox in normal - doing 50mph in 7th @ just under 2000rpm - floored the throttle and it dropped to 2nd ! - lovely sound that was lol

I had a '59 plate E93 335i DCT Highline last year and that was £300ish to tax.
It was also an N54.
It was also better and easier to tune than the N55.
Mine was around 450bhp with JB4, MHD, filters, decats and methanol.

Personally I prefer the B58 and would stretch to afford that if looking for one of these cars.

i'd have preferred a newer one too. Unfortunately, my wallet and situation preferred the N54 smile

I don't understand why they are saying it is a 2016 09 car. It makes no sense.

If you want proper decent stock, keep your eye on this site, they are near Guildford. I almost bought something from there, but, they ended up not having what I wanted. There are some proper sick cars available.

Our latest addition. Being a remapped 335d it's by default the fastest car in the world right?

I do like them. Best colour too IMO.

A friend of mine recently got an X4 Comp and it goes like stink, even more so for a big car!

Yeah it's a good car a total departure for me after a string of RWD M cars, the engine is very strong with forged internals they are running 700hp on just a tune in the US.

The next M3/4 will be ballistic with this engine.
