There were on any late ES model E39's. ES was a sort of special edition run out model based on the SE in the lower engine options (525d, 520i, 525i) and had those 17" wheels as std along with shadowline window trim and a few other items.

They're 17" style 71's which were the same as the Clubsport. I'll replace them with E39 M5 wheels eventually or 18" style 32's

Just bought this, 330d xdrive M sport plus with professional nav and heated seats, 1000 miles in 2 weeks it’s very good. Managed 48 mpg on a run and it is properly quick.

There is an argument that the 2.0 diesel is all you need, it is a remarkable engine.

Id happily make the argument. I’ve had an F11 530d which was an amazing thing but this does just fine. It’s whether you’re happy with ‘just fine’ I guess. Mine seems to have a flat spot up to about 1800rpm which is irksome mind..

Looks great that Dan.

Was it the one in Lancs that had been for sale a little while?

Looks lovely Dan, but several 530's and now a 540 begs the obvious question about your E39 love - when are you going to jump into you billy big boy pants wink and get an M5 or V8 Alpina ?

I thought long & hard about getting an M5 pal; but the prices are just daft currently and my budget wouldn't stretch to that

I like to justify my spending and having a c£25k car sat on the drive, doing maybe 4k miles a year, is a waste of money IMO and I'd rather get the mortgage paid off in the next 2 years; that's the priority really!

I was sorely tempted by an E60 M5 via the M3 Cutters forum, but even though it's had all the major work done, the bork factor still scared me laugh
