Trouble seems to surround that boy marquez
Tough call that one. Part of me thinks he should have been aware of where Espargaro was, another part thinks it was a racing incident.

I can't see it being anything more than a racing incident. Spanish rider, Spanish circuit and dorna's blue eyed boy to boot.

Cutting across other riders seems to be a common occurrence

Seeing the replay from the front, Pol's closing speed was very high and Marquez had no idea he was coming through. Racing incident, but a shame for the race.

I hope MotoGP is as exciting as the other two races, perhaps a tiny bit of rain (please) to even things out?

Hope Casey gets the win

Completely agree.... Any other rider than Marquez, and it would have been a "racing incident".

He must be on the very edge of the tyres grip. eek

I wonder if he's thinking "Shiiiit, that track is close!"
Or rather "Hmm. I wonder if we'll have curry or fish tonight?" hehe

He wouldn't have got a penalty if he had raced cleanly in Qatar, he was still racing with the stewards warning he had got from them in Qatar for forcing Luthi off the track. 1 naughty = warning. 2 naughties = penalty. 3 naughties = race ban.

They also have long memories for bonehead moves, of which he has made many.

I agree completely, but I thought in this case he did nothing wrong. Pol came from a long way back, not his fault either but there's no way Marc knew he was trying to come through.

They should save punishment for when a rider has clearly and knowingly compromised safety, IMO.

ETA: Who's Alvaro Marquez? smile

I think they put it under the "causing an avoidable accident" rule, as in riding slowly off the racing line (as he was almost off the bike) and recovering still slowly onto the racing line without checking it was clear.

They have now overturned the penalty after review, everything back to how it was at the flag.

However that's pending an appeal of the appeal to the FIM

And then that decision will be appealed.
