Marquez given a ONE MINUTE time penalty!!!

What a big steaming pile of turd by race direction.
Mr. R - what you have to remember is that if you continuously make borderline moves on people, ie: purposely cutting in front of riders when a clean overtake is possible, all of a sudden you will find yourself under scrutiny.

Today's incident was borne out of adrenaline, however he was lucky to compose himself so quickly albeit at the cost to one of his competitors.

He summed the incident up very clearly in his interview. He apologised for 2 seconds but talked about the 16 points he gained for a minute.

It's dangerous enough out there as it is without people with a lack of peripheral vision and a care of their competitors well being

Could this be a championship at whatever the cost?

Mr R? Either way, Rossi, stoner, Lorenzo, Gardner & many other said it was wrong.

I noticed that as well, but to give MM some due, he probably hadnt yet seen quite how hard Epargaro went down.

I'm wondering what the angle of the track is - where the level, horizontal line actually lies?
The kerb at that point does rise a bit front to back. It's hard to see in that (excellent) photo, but it could be seen clearly during the races.

Moto 2 & 3 were cracking today!

I don't think Marquez did much wrong to be honest, kind of having his own moment wasn't he?

"Excuse me mate, can I have my brakes back? They were quite expensive"

Big bike destroying crash for Cal on Barcelona test. Some parts clearing the perimeter fencing.

autosport said:
Cal Crutchlow walked away from a high-speed crash during the early stages of MotoGP's group test at the Catalunya circuit.

The Briton had only completed one fast lap when he hit a wet patch at around 200km/h on the approach to Turn 4.

While Crutchlow was relatively unhurt in the accident his bike was destroyed, with some parts apparently clearing the perimeter fencing.

"Massive, massive crash 2nd lap on wet patch under bridge no one could see. 200kph ...," Crutchlow, who finished fifth in yesterday's Catalunya Grand Prix, tweeted.

"Took a lot of skin off my arse back and shoulders but am ok! Went back out as we have a job to do. So sorry to boys as bike was totalled."

Crutchlow has since been able to rejoin the test on a second chassis, and was 11th fastest at the lunch-time break. Honda's Casey Stoner led the way with a 1m42.458s, ahead of team-mate Dani Pedrosa.

You've got to love his work ethic, it's the same as the lowes brothers, crash check body/bike and carry on.
You never hear them moaning.

Byrne is also out on the PBM Aprilia, sharing it with Elllison to get 2 heads worth of data. I suppose being so close to the "factory" wink Aprilia's of De Puniet and Espargaro they want to see what more they can get out of their bike. Although Ellison's race lap of 1m 45.241s was the quickest Aprilia lap time set.

So its not just me that thinks he should have realised matey was there? I think it was a racing incident and Marquez didnt mean to take him out but Marquez even begin to lift the bike back up.

It looks like the chosen one is going to be given a ticket to the top ride too..

With the Spanish banks in the st (technical term) such as Aspar's backer Bankia (needing €19billion bail out) and Marquez's backer CaixaCatalunya both going cap in hand to the bankrupt Spanish Government because they have billions of debt and mortgage borrowers unable to pay I wonder if the Spanish Armada in MotoGP/Moto2/Moto3 might get stuck in the mud for the next few years.

Last month Moody's downgraded 16 Spanish banks including the two above plus Santander and Banesto and it was the Spanish banks that did badly in the stress test last year.

Spanish banking total bailout put at €126 billion.

Repsol oil sponsorship will be ok but many I bet won't be.

Morning motorcyclists. I'm just back from Barcelona where we attended the Catalan MotoGP round. Is it worth me posting photos in the thread? Anyone interested? The much-discussed Marquez incident occurred in front of us - pretty dramatic and certainly not nice to see a rider being stretchered off. He was on the way back to the pits pretty soon after on the back of a scooter but holding his neck and looking in some distress. Bad news for the former championship leader. The incident was on the news that evening and the front page of the local motorcycle press as well. Must be said that Marquez has quite a following out in Spain, even if young Maverick's seems even greater.
