He brought it round to show us earlier, it's really rather smart.
There's a couple of bits aren't perfect but the painter only took money for materials not labour so it's not so bad.
It'll hide his face so that's always a bonusbiggrin

so here it is!

From a distance it looks great. Up close, not so much.

I went to see the chap last night. And as my Dad AKA Ben Dover said I only ended up paying for the cost of the paint. He basically said he wasn’t happy with it and we both agreed it fell far short of his other work. He had flung in the towel with it and wasn’t prepared to do anymore work on it. He'd spent 3 weeks trying to fix it and couldn’t do anymore. This was his nemesis. His Moby Dick if you will. He did try and land some of the blame at my door but that was quickly crushed. You could see he was annoyed about the job and himself. I think he just didn’t know what he was doing to be honest and far out his depth.

I’m a bit disappointed the way it turned out, there’s faults all through it. But it’s not the worse outcome there could have been. It looks far better than before. I got my helmet back with a design I love and it will do for on the track. In hindsight I should have went to the guy that done Lewis Hamilton’s helmets then I'd have the real deal but I can’t now so live and learn. Least now with the money I dint have to pay I can buy another helmet or put money towards a one piece.

as you can see up close its rotten. Ill just need to ride quick every where I go so people dont notice.

That first photo above should have had an X-rating, or at least a health warning before scrolling down to it..

Well, seeing as I stole this thread I thought id say that I wore it for the first time on Saturday and to my surprise it never fell to bits.confused

a bit of paint flaked at the vent but other than that so far so good, touchwood.

Only thing is its a bit tight. at 100 plus the helmet is pushed back into my nose (im well endowed in the nose department though) hopefully the pads will loose in the helmet and it will be fine.

It doesnt half make people look though, within 100 yards of my house id pulled over to adjust my balaclava and two guys in a clio slowed down to walking speed and just looked. They obviously thought fk me thats cool (from afar).

Really impressed with the Arai though, lighter than the AGV and hardly no wind noise.

Need a pinlock though. But id buy another Arai over a AGV anyday.

I think Arai only have one official UK painter? Mike Fairholm. He is pricey, but the results are worth it smile

He did my racing lid. (homage to Jag '88 smile)

You should never get SMIDSY'd wearing that helmet, I saw the glow from it from about three miles away.

I was blinded by your helmet, even through a dark visor.

THE SAGA CONTINUES!!!!!!!

So I've wore the lid a grand total of 5 times maybe, your lucky if its covered 300 miles or so.....

Stuck it on today it was covered in flies so I took the visor off soaked it and cleaned it up.....

WTF, the paint from the original purple spray job is starting to come through in big blotches, it looks like Mr Blobbys arse.

I thought maybe I have something on it so I let it dry (i only used soappy water) but it never went away when dry.

fk this I think so I phoned the guy, got the niceties out of the way and told him that my helmet has developed scabies. "oh fk, bring it down ill have a look".

I can only assume its been the sun that has done this, its the first time Ive had it in direct sun light, I havent washed it and its been stored in its bag in a dark dry cupboard.

So God knows whats going to happen with it now. On the plus side the visor came in and out with some ease.

Im fked off again. what a bag of st.

I think you need to push to be reimbursed entirely. The bloke can't fix it, cause he can't paint for st, and you're left with a fked costly lid, and out of pocket.

I'd be pushing for a new replacement lid personally.

If he wasn't up to the job, and he knew he wasn't, he should have done that originally anyway IMO. If i'd cocked a lid up and couldn't make it any better, i'd have to replace it and apologise.

My mate was a journo at MCN and recommended RichArt to me recently. Going to use him to paint my new Shoei in the classic senna colours with some extra personalised bits. Will not be cheap but the boy does all the top riders helmet.

Ouch. I'd be expecting a new lid, or if the lid is still ok then I'd want a full refund so I could get someone else to strip it back and reprint it.

I'm also having lid trauma (although not as bad as you). Preordered a new AGV in December and told it was due to arrive in March. In March this became early May. In early May this became 2nd July. Their excuse is 'unexpected demand'. That's unexpected demand on a lid that they are only bringing a total of 300 into the country. So, in summary, they didn't expect to make 300 helmets that they had already committed to making. Unexpected demand my arse.
