It isn't allowed to be 140 kg, as the regulations don't allow it.

A derestricted 125 exceeds the required power to weight limit...

I had one of those in 1990, never had any trouble with the belt drive and it did 80 mpg. A tank that rusted internally caused a lot of starting problems though as the fine rust blocked the pilot jets.
Only sold it as the insurance doubled for no reason that I could see.

I think the R125 has got 'The Elise Factor' Yamaha released it cheap, didn't realise how popular it would be, sold loads, jacked up the price!

I like the idea of the slipper clutch - very useful - but why no gear indicator? I do think for the novice trying to remember where they are in a gear box (and the dozy like me) is quite tricky? Surely it's cheap as chips (micro) to fit one?

I've got 97lb/ft in my normal bike. Anything else feels gutless bottom end to me, but then my preference has always been big lazy engines.

I do not think knowing which gear you are in makes any difference as it is down to the feel and 2nd nature of riding, after a while you know when to change up or down gear!

I like the look of the bike and kwacker green cannot be missed when out and about.

When i had my CBR250 in for it's first service, the guy in the dealer mentioned they were supposed to be bringing out a new cbr400 in the next few months.

As long as they don't do what they did to the 250 it should be good. IE, ruin it.

The old CBR 250RR was a proper CBR, DOHC, inline 4 cylinder 18,000 RPM, 41 bhp, 130 mph, mini supersports machine. It was faster than the two stroke competitors, and was the fastest 4 stroke for the old 250 learner laws.


Honda - bring back the babyblade, not a 500 twin based on the current 250...

Sprinter, Red Trident(ooer), and JP hit it bang on collectively. 172kg. Shurely shome mishtake, Jon? Mini 675 gets my vote, but marginally behind a VFR400 (or an RVF). Have Honda do a VAE on the VFR and RVF, get Tyga to do the bodywork, paint it in Moto GP colours, get an insurance deal on it. Job done. V4 Victory prestige? Yep. Sorry about the TLAs. I work for an American company. ATB, Clarence. PS - Can I have mine in original RC30 paintjob?! That'd be extra.....

I want a bike like this - happy at 80, capable of 100, can overtake 50mph-ers, preferably about 80mpg - but it neeeds to be a bike sized for actual grown-ups. The 250 ninja looks like a toy bike under me (6'4") and I could probably clean my ears with my knees while on it if my helmet wasn't in the way... That Honda NC700 thing is sort of a step in the right direction, but I'd like a red-line somewhere around 10k... a lot of the fun of a bike is revving the tits off it!

Dear sir, at 6'4 you should try a kawasaki versys. Tops out at 120 but has loads of shove up until 110. Tall, will get 60mpg normal riding, 70 if your gentle. Grunty but responds well to being grabbed by the scruff and thrashed. Redlines at 10500

Bike magazine did a comparison with an R6 a while back, and in the 4th gear and above, roll on overtakes it was substantially quicker on the road. OK, the r6 ain't getting into its powerband at that point, but it was making a point of how easy a bike the V is to ride.

Sounds better than the 250.

I was forced to use one when I had to take a motorcycle test in Texas (despite being a full UK licence holder for years before, fkers). There was no road test element but after I'd passed their 'obstacle' test before training actually commenced they let me take the bike out for lunch. The scariest aspect other than the comedy suspension were the brakes which were non-existent given 90 kilos of rider and the bikes own relative lard. It reminded me of stuff I was riding in the late eighties........

For the money this 300 had better be significantly better.

As a non bike rider I have 2 random questions...

What sort of 0-60 figure would we be looking at?

Would it move with a 14 1/2 stone 6 foot 1 bloke on it?

Just read a review of the new baby Ninja in Bike magazine. It seems the slipper clutch was fitted primarily to give a very light clutch action - the springs can be made lighter because the clutch grips harder when it's transmitting torque. The slipping action on the overrun is almost a side effect, and the review mentions it's as much use as tits on a bull on such a small engine.

Bikes biggest condemnation was the price; you are likely to be able to pick up a new SV650 for less money, and the ER6 won't be much more. They also said the Taiwanese "Road Winner" tyres it comes with are dire, though that's easily fixed.

Not a clue on 0-60 times, it's not a performance stat usually given for bikes. They compared the performance to the old RD250LC but without the sharp powerband, which should mean it's pretty brisk.

In terms of size it will probably be a bit cramped for your height, the reviewer was 5'9" and he could put both feet flat on the floor with a prominent bend in both knees.
