Hmmm where's the fun doing 150 on a motorway, far more fun playing around in the twistys

It actually hurts a bit getting hit by a bee at these speeds. More so for the bee I guess.

Ok, to you hard men 150mph on a bike seems to be nothing. It was on my 'bucket list' but I only did it for the first time a few weeks ago. The build up/thinking about it was terrifying (call me a wus) BUT the bike got there so quickly and easily that it was almost 'so what' in the end. So do I qualify to join your ranks?

The other one for me was 200mph in a car - which I've now done a few times. The first as a passenger, which was HORRID. It takes much longer to get there than a bike does to 150 so the tension does build a bit.

All above refers to on road of course (non UK!). High speeds don't really register on track in the same way.

I've done 202mph in my old car at Brunters.. and it was hard work. I bought this bike to do the same but it's no easy task!

It will take a lot more getting used to the bike before I have the balls to book a day at Brunters again. Even though 175 is easy, the rest is slow work getting there at that speed yes

On a private road big speed was very easy (too easy) on my Daytona 675. Top end of 3rd will see 120mph and you only need to shortest of straights to get there.

Also did 150mph a couple of times...

... and the bloody R1 still pulled away! eekmadhehe

If you wanted to see over 200mph on the clock would you not have been better off with an early Hayabusa? (indicated 215mph..(Genuine 194mph) stock .......then add NOS for the final 6mph)

Circa 1999 BEFORE the manufacturers started slapping 186mph limiters on everything frown

But are they actually physical limiters??
My 2009 Blade would pull to an indicated 299kph, and read no higher but the rpm kept climbing!!

Dunno...I've not done 300clicks on a Demo bike for a while now biggrin might have to get back to you once I've ridden the S1000RR HP4.

BTW My Blade does an indicated 186mph (172 GPS) on the limiter.

Wow those Busa clocks are well out if that is the case! I saw 1.75 leptons going over to froggy land lasy week but gps recorded it as 1.58 leptons. I want to actually achieve over 200mph as confirmed by static timing as was done at Brunters in this.. which also had nitrous.

My bike also features the 186 restricter which is coming off. I'm waiting for a remap which should see it at 203 crank and around the 180hp at the tyre which should be enough. If that doesn't work it will get a 50 shot of nitrous and or a turbo biggrin

In the last 8 years since the Ultima my balls have shrunk in size somewhat. Even though the ZZR whizzes up to silly o'clock quite easily, it's a completely different game at the top end of the double ton. To get vmax at Brunters, you've got to be hitting around the ton by my calculations on the right hand bend before the long straight and that is something I'm not used to on a bike.

Lots of learning ahead I think yes

It's no biggie though is it? Mine does it with ease and the only difference is the number on the dial and a bit of buffeting.

Not done that, most is 150ish in the Boxster. Funnily enough, it felt more sketchy than the bike.

it's easy getting there, but always remember that you might find some junk on the road.

eg: the 2mx1m fibreglass spoiler off the top of a trucks cabin sitting in the fast lane of the otherwise empty autostrada. at 162mph you don't get much time to think...

150mph is easy as pie on any 1000cc sportsbike. I'm sure some on here hit it with ease when it's nice and clear to do so whistle

My car feels a lot more stable than my bike. I've done 152mph off the GPS in the car, but the fastest I've been on a bike is 114mph GPS. I think I need a more stable bike.

The 152mph was on a fast trip. Odense to Brussels in 10 hours flat. Which may not seem like much but it included driving out of Odense, a 1.5 hour stop in Hamburg, driving in and out of Hamburg, stopping for dinner and stopping twice to refuel, driving into Brussels and about 50 kilometres of roadworks.

What's 150mph like on a bike?

Depends on the bike!

160(ish) on the ZX6 was nothing like as scarey as (about - no speedo) 75mph on a 1920s bike with no suspension, no brakes to speak of, and covered in oil biggrin
