Talk to me about my bed. I got a memory thing that, well, has lost it's memory. I've only had it 6 months. Other than taking the boys for a shop visit, or alternatively buy a new one, can they be fixed? Turned upside down? Watered? Set fire to? Anything?
Not an uncommon syndrome Nick.
It's called the Buchan phenomenon. It loses any concept of what it's own shape is meant to look like & consequently just collapses into a shapeless pile of flabby stuff. Usually brought on by being left lying around for too long without being turned head to toe & patted occasionally. "Moisture" does NOT help this condition.
Seriously, it should not be like that especially after just a few months. It should have been turned head to toe, ideally once a week for first 2-3 months, but in nearly 100% of the time, NOT turned over i.e. upside down. Have you turned head to toe?
Is it a composite/hybrid type i.e. combination mem foam & spring?
If it truly is suffering from "trenching" (leaving the approx shape of your bodies on each side of the mattress) then deffo not right & should be covered under guarantee. What make is it? Bought in UAE or from UK?
Of course, I am conscious that you have been conducting reproductive manouevres on said mattress so that might invalidate guarantee I'd say take da boys round to the shop as there's nothing that recovers it once gone.

6 inches of foam, over a normal mattress. I've never turned it though. Bought in the UAE so probably made in China...chances of a refund of a replacement are zero. I'll turn it round and see what happens. No idea of the make, but the trench is only on my side, and given that Lis is currently heavier than me, makes no sense. I'll look for the make etc tonight and email you if that's ok?It's called the Buchan phenomenon. Sounds like it's just a "topper" then ? separate to your mattress is it? If it is then make sure that the springs in the mattress itself haven't collapsed as the topper will just follow the contours beneath it.e mail late is OK. Send a pic if you wish.
with/without Lis laid on it is optional
