My local gliding club will take you up as a passenger for the cost of the winch (approx £25 I believe). You are a bit far away from it, but sure there are other clubs local.

Has been something I have been meaning to do for ages, and just not got around to doing yet.

Do it, it's great fun, and as said most clubs will do you an experience flight (passenger rather than lesson) for not a lot of money.

We use the gliding club for a cup of tea when out on the Enduro's, and I remember one of the guys talking to us and saying he would love to have an Enduro but his wife will not let him as it was too dangerous. I thought it was hilarious that he would go up in the sky without an engine, but was not allowed a motorbike!

He was explaining to me one day how easy it was to get a license, and not that expensive either considering what I thought it would cost. However I can't remember what the numbers were.
