Ah st. Not good. Wanna buy a ZX10R trackbike with a V5. Only 8K miles and no rattles. It is a bit cosmetically challenged though biggrin

biggrin lol

Cash needs to be spent fixing this one .. then use it until I save enough cash for the replacement. It wont be another Honda... mad But otherwise could be anything. No point saying what as I'll change my mind a million times between now and then. Saying that if it turns out to be something easy / cheap to sort who knows but knowing my luck it wont be...

Shame as despite the Honda piss taking on here its got the best chassis of any bike I've ridden and it fits me well.

I managed to do the evening session at Brands yesterday, joined by Andy XRV.

The weather was overcast and approaching the circuit from the other side of London we had drizzle. Fortunately this stopped at about 4 and didn't really affect the track from what I could see. Just as well really as I couldn't be arsed to stick my wets in the van.

It must be at least 6 years since I last did Brands Indy on a big bike. It was also my first time on the track bike in almost 10 months, and boy did it show. I forgot how draining hustling it can be and it only took 5 mins after the sighting laps had finished for me to be wet through with sweat.

Overall, an enjoyable few sessions, even more so once I realised I had max TC on which was causing the bike to bog coming out of Druids and Graham Hill.......Doh!

That was my shakedown and fitness regime all rolled into one for the coming 1000km endurance. I finished off with a pint and pizza. Lucking Fast are taking this seriously!!

I started with a little row, then I did squats and lunges, and a little cool down on the running machine.

Glad I got my refund hehe but would have liked to use the Michelin wets. Bet the track will be empty.

I bought Michelin dries. I don't have their wets.
I can see them not letting me out.

Hopefully they will see sense and not send me out on dries. I think I'll just stick the warmers over the wets if they come looking.

Which Michelins?

Glad I got a refund too ... don't fancy another wet Oulton ...

It's rattling on idle ... It sounds very much like CCT rattle hence I replaced the CCT with a genuine OE part and changed the oil and filter. It sounds better but it isn't right hence I've dumped it at KAIS to resolve.

From reading up a bit it is either:

- cam chain stretched (certainly feasible on a 30k mile bike)
- crankshaft primary drive issue (although this was supposed to be on 08-10 models with the weaker crank. Mine has the revised stronger crank)
- gearbox issue of some sort (gearbox works fine as does clutch / slipper)
- valve issue of some sort (goes fine and doesn't lack power)

Anything other than camchain / valves means engine out and cases split.

I'm preparing for the worst. frown
Apparently it is the oil pump chain slapping against the inner casing ... a relatively easy and cheap job to do. Why Honda have to use a chain I never know...

I did Anglesey on Friday and it was wetter than I can remember a track being for a good few years. I got in lots of good practice and ran in both Fast and Inters to build some stamina for this weekend's 1000km race.

My wet mojo deserted me a long time ago after a mahoosive highside at donington in the wet. Friday is the first time I've felt comfortable again and was running a pretty knackered rear too.

Getting some wet practice in is always a good thing.

I would've done, but I reckon the 1000km race the day before will wipe me out.
