Next few days are dry, so if you're still there you get some sun! I'll be there Saturday but it's a Spanish company so guessing you'll have gone back by then.

What are your times if you don't mind me asking? I see people post about them all the time, but I never have anything to relate to since it's always UK tracks.

They’ll all be sub 2 minutes as they’re experienced riders even if this is their first time there.

There’s a 600cc challenge cup that does the rounds in the group and I think one has it with a 1:56 at the moment.

Yeah just curious really, I know he's a quick rider so I assumed mid 1:50's. Every trackday I've done is with transponders here and they usually email you your times after each session or at the end of the day. Some organisers even have a sheet with everyones best times on it per grouping, so pretty different attitude to timing than what I've seen the UK has.

Timing should be leftnto racing and test days, a trackday is just a giggle. Certainly not worth timing IMO when in the lower groups anyway. That’s just an opinion, as great laps can be logged as slow by a bit of traffic in one corner whereas a ragged lap that has no traffic can be the fastest despite being a poor lap

I've only done around 7 trackdays so far, but all of them have had compulsory transponders. Just seems a different attitude over here, I'm sure there's banter between friends but I've not seen people going out of their way to get the best times etc. Although in saying that in Monteblanco one of the organisors gives a free trackday to whoever sets the fastest lap on the day biggrin

For what it's worth I've only ever ridden Jerez, so don't have much experience. I like seeing my times and knowing I'm improving, but video does a better job of seeing the mistakes etc anyways, timing is just a number which like you say doesn't really say much.

Disagree, timing on euro days is essential. Stops all the knobheads who should be in novice but have too big an ego to admit it from cluttering up other groups

Like I said purely an opinion as here’s loads will claim they didn’t get a fast lap in due to slow traffic and so on. Either way doesn’t bother me

In general I'm all for the TDO timing on euro Trackdays. It can be dangerous having vastly slow people out in the fast group doing bizarre things.

I do agree that a laptime doesn't tell the complete story. You could have someone on a small capacity bike with great corner speed getting bumped out of fast group for a fat middle aged man on a S1000rr that's quicker over a lap but is much more of a roadblock on track, so some sense is required.

I think No Limits new system is pretty much ideal. They time everyone, but don't display the times so there's no competitive element. They also don't do a blanket approach and put the top 40 in fast, next 40 in inters etc. They only move people that are outliers in the group

Fat middle aged men on other makes/models ...are available....see ZX10R, R1, Fireblade...etc
