Brands Hatch Novice day next Tuesday (24th) - I'll be there on a BMWR1200rs with a couple of mates on a Hornet 900 & KTM890.
Didn't turn a wheel on track MSV seem to have gone very strict on the two piece leather zip. I got Hideout to put a full length zip on mine last year after getting away with a shortish one for years, but last week after the hands up test, the marshal was then lifting up your jacket & having a poke about & after getting someone else over to give his opinion I was denied any track time. My mate (also two piece) was allowed out, his zip gap was 2cm less than mine.Had a few days of back & forth on email with MSV where they said it's not about the size of the gap, but there should be no exposed undergarments/skin when arms above your head. Sent them a video confirming mine met this criteria & after a bit more back & forth they have agreed to book me back on, but won't confirm I will actually be allowed to ride this time!!
Anyway, got a few days in northern France end of July including a day at Folembray, organised by the local Motorrad dealer, open pitlane & just 29 on track, should be good. Anyone been there?
Had my first taste of a bike trackday last week. I did Oulton Park which is only 20 minutes up the road from me.
I rode to the track on my road bike, which is a 2009 ZX6R, took the tail tidy off, lowered tyre pressures and off I went. Had an ace day and was happy with my pace and feel of the bike for a noob!
Loved it that much I have booked another day in July.

Metzeler M9RR. New this season. Done a few road miles and one soaking wet track day earlier this month. It wasn't the tyres at fault.
It was particularly galling watching you ride out the paddock on your way home whilst we loaded my broken bike. That was supposed to be me!

How is your bike?

I'm alright. Came away with a sore little finger. How is your bike?
Managed to rip the peg and rear brake line off the bike, which made a hole in the clutch cover somehow. Fairings are scuffed/cracked but not too sad (R&G peg done its job in that respect).

I'd have been happier with rain all day instead it was torrential early hours, track was so slippy. I had the instructor crash on 2nd sighting lap right in front of me and should've used that as an idea of how bad it wasI'd like to think I'm fairly good in the wet but it spat me and 2 others off all exactly same spot. Then more in inters same spot so it was obviously a very slippery part of tarmac
Just so many red flags all weekend. I managed 2 full sessions in 2 days. Track started to dry about 70% after lunch (you had to keep to the line and the back straight was still wet going into the bridge)
In just 1 session my rear went from being ok to completely killed from the dry parts (I say dry but it was constantly damp in the air)
Switched to the slick rear I ran on the Saturday but wet front and had 1 slight moment after lunch
Then session after was spitting quite a bit but a load of us went out and I could see others were following a similar idea with R11s or slick rear Inters/wet front. I was front of the line and some fella on a black R6 next to me. We set off first right hander fine then right right hander I started to lean in and back came round - I just held it but as I straightened up all I heard was loads of scrapping only to see the guy behind me just done the same and crashed. Oil spill and another red flag
At that point with 2 sessions left in the day I says enough was enough
£170 a day plus track fuel plus diesel... Not a great weekend of riding although a great weekend with mates, BBQ and laughs
There were two guys on brand new completely stock Inc plates and mirrors rsv4s and one of them went well. I was passing one on the finish straight when he just couldn't stop with the damp patches I assume ran on and dropped it in the grass. Brand spanking new bike done. That was gutting to see but I think the damage was fairly light
Been meaning to say hello in this thread a while. The track day bug has now truly bitten!
Started end of last year, was a bit stressed with stuff going on a needed a good day off. So got on a British superbike school day at Blyton park. Was wet and on a hire bike. But really enjoyed it.
Managed to get another in at Anglesey on October, again on a hire bike. A Small Boys this time, what a bike and the service was great. Would recommend Small Boys hire.
The track experience had bitten! So hiring was going to be to expensive. So bought a track bike and a returned to British superbike school day at Blyton park secured due to a cancelation.
Have since been to Mallory on the 3rd June and Anglesey last Friday 10th.
Have booked;
Donnington 19th July
Anglesey 29th July
Mallory 24th August (Jamie Whitham day)
Looking for another in August..
Its a great escape, cant really think about much else when on a track day. Love the progression and challenge. Hope to bump into some of you! I have managed to drag a friend along to a few and he's now busy converting his Daytona to a track bike.
Got lucky with a great photographer at Anglesey on Friday!

At Brands today, ZX6R not ready and MT10 got a flat yesterday, so have borrowed a mate’s XJ6.
But scary as it’s very soft and the tyres are square, so I’m definitely the slowest in my group.
Have thought about moving down, but it’s really quiet and folks seem to be passing me with ease, so I’m going to stick with it.
Really enjoying myself though.
