Weather was too nice for sitting in an office, so had a pootle on this fella! I can see why people like the engine so much, and it's a bit schizophrenic - take it easy and everything's quiet and sensible, but wind on the throttle and it roars!
Didn't leave me with an inane grin like the MT10 did, but maybe my license might last a bit longer....
MT10 came on stronger and better mid but the gsxs had the peak bhp
When we did a few roll ons from 30 to about 120 (on a runway) the gsxs done the MT every time - mainly cos the MT constantly wheelies!
I'd have the MT though, better built, sounds better ams more fun. Don't need to wack a grand on it after buying to get the cheap bits sorted
Washed it again and fitted a de cat pipe, the cat on the MT10 weighs 14 kilo, so, its 14 kilos lighter and the de cat pipe weighs the same as a paper bag.
I've also wound the rear spring down 15mm (sag) as it was sitting right at the top of the adjustment, took it for a blast up the road, no houses and the Mrs wasn't happy as she said it sounds like its knackered now. (sounds great to me).

They are proper loud with a decat, especially with the akro can, weight saving is a real bonusI've also wound the rear spring down 15mm (sag) as it was sitting right at the top of the adjustment, took it for a blast up the road, no houses and the Mrs wasn't happy as she said it sounds like its knackered now. Out for an hour or so on the 500 earlier, I should have bought one of these before I had that vasectomy...nuts and under carriage thoroughly roasted..
Beautiful bike , I have forgotten how they ride after all these years, will it lift the front in 1st and 2nd or is it a linear power band . My aprilia rs 250 although running spot on has no hope in hell of lifting the front in 1st let alone 2nd, it will however give a massive head shake up hill on a bend with a bumpy road on full chat.I remember my old rd 350 ypvs mk 1 and even my 125 lc would lift, god help you with a pillion but I guess that was down to the upright riding position.
Its remarknly torquey for a 500 stroke TBH and it quite happy between 3-6k pootling about and when I it did run as well as Yamaha intended briefly, it certainly went very well but the power delivery and gearing really do stop it from being a wheelie bike, I aim to down gear it slightly when its all sweet.
The LC is certainly far better for dicking around on and doing wheelies, I think its the combination of seating position, gearing and power delivery.
My KR1 sounds similar to your RS250, it just drives forward rather than lift the wheel..also likes to dance over rougher roads at speed..TBH of all my bikes, the KR is the most intense and focused bike and makes you ride like a total cock..especially when your out with a mate on his 250 at the same time..
Whereabouts in the UK are you mate?

Thanks...Its not running as well as it should at the moment so shes not making all the power it should, all the time, due a trip to the dyno in a few weeks for some diagnostic work and set up.
Does your shake it´s head like a madman when you take your hands off the bars??Mine (I had back in 89-91) used to do that - first time gave me the willy´s!!
Fkin loved that bike but traded it in for a brand new Gixxer 750M in feb 91 - of course I wish I still had both!!!
