SAS Tom and Mr OCD this morning on their ghey bikes, at least there's one Yamaha in the picture...
First decent run of the year for me.
More snaps as the weather closed in at the top of the Col de la Bonette where it was a bit chilly...!
Toughest day for some time, climbing the Col, making it past the weather over the top, then being forced to U-turn as there was a 6m wall of snow that hadn't been cleared. Unfortunately, the u-turn meant an extra 163miles across some very tight mountain roads across the valley in fading light. Eventually hit the fast N202 then N85 and D900 as rain started and became torrential for the last 50 miles up the mountain again. 370 hard miles in every weather condition.

Good going!, not ideal going up the bonnette to have to turn around, that's a big old detour there!Toughest day for some time, climbing the Col, making it past the weather over the top, then being forced to U-turn as there was a 6m wall of snow that hadn't been cleared. Hopefully the weather and cols will be better and open when we go out!!!
I only ever plan to do up to 200 miles a day in the mountains, it's knackering otherwise, 370miles is hard going!

You're right - 200 miles in the mountains is plenty. I had already done 200 when the snowplough driver forced me to turn around (ok, the Col was marked as closed but I decided to give it a try...). But when the satnav said the u-turn meant an extra 163 miles, my heart sank as it meant having to repeat going back over the Col in the weather which had fully closed in. I actually started thinking if I had enough kit with me if forced to spend the night up top. A memorable day without a doubt, and the torrential rain for the last 50 miles has me now looking for kit that is more waterproof than Goretex.Once the weather dried up, the views and progress improved...
Ha! Good riding! I have the same pain with clothing, if you're gonna get wet, not even Rukka can stop it!, I've never found anything totally waterproof after a whole days riding in torrential rain, so now I just wing it with Kevlar jeans and summer jacket with a two piece waterproof suit to go over the top
