In London it's an offence to park a motorbike on the pavement.
Under which act?
Section 244 of the Highway Code. One I know only too well
Which surely makes it a Police matter? Like I said, you wont get a parking ticket and (mainly), the Met have better things to do.
You'll go straight to jail, do not pass go. Do not collect £200
Multiple Parking Nazis and coppers pass mine each day, along with 5 others. Never had an issue. confused
Stay lucky!! I used to put my helmet bag over the number plate, but they gave the CEO's authority to do either remove them or have your bike removed. It nearly ended up with the police being called one day when I caught one poorly English speaking CEO trying to remove the bag covering my plate.
Last year, when I used to park in Russell Square (I know, not quite Mayfair) there was a painted bike bay on a wide pavement. The parking Nazis used to ticket bikes that were (even partially) outside the painted area. I wouldn’t park on a pavement in London unless it is specifically designated for bike parking.

Thanks to the app that was suggested, I found a great little bike bay with the perfect spot for my little GSA and didn't have to resort to a) parking on the pavement or b) parking in that huge hell hole on Berkeley Square! Including a lamp post around which I could sling the chain. Fortunately, on a GSA there's plenty of metal work around which to put the chain also.

Thanks for the suggestions thumbup

The Met may have better things to do, but that doesn't stop the Local Authority or Transport for London using their own CEO's. I have had 4 tickets for parking off the road, in no instances was the bike causing an obstruction
I agree with Fleegle. I have been given parking tickets while on the path in a quiet corner causing no obstruction in central London. I have blagged an underground parking space now!

Hi all. I've just decided to commute via my bike into Mayfair, and was hoping to get some insight into how full the parking bays in Mayfair get at what time in the morning.

I currently get into work at about 8.15, and so would likely be parking up around 8am. Is there sufficient space at that time, or would I need to start getting into work earlier?

Thanks in advance for any help.
