Got rear ended guy had been tailgating me for 3/4 of a mile. The traffic stopped ahead of me, I stopped, he didn't. The bike and I both stayed upright but I got slammed forward
My tail tidy has taken the brunt of it, my chain looks slack but the wheel looks straight. Don't know whether it's slid in its adjusters.
Rang the insurance and they will call me in the morning. I've only just got this bike running, better not write it off! It has brand new tyres, battery, starter and only just serviced.
Seriously? A guy tailgated you for 3/4 hr and then somehow you still let him hit you when you stopped? Sorry for your bad luck but really and truly, it wasn't luck. Im Back !!!!! ............. on two wheels well from last Thursday
Today was quiet and noticed also the The Highway the road was sticky - prob from all them energy drinks thrown on the floor from them joggers !
Agreed and as I mentioned in my post earlier a ton of post marathon crap left on the route despite them clearly having tried to clean it up Today was quiet and noticed also the The Highway the road was sticky - prob from all them energy drinks thrown on the floor from them joggers !
Had a ride in on the new bike around midday to get some forex.
Firstly got caught by tower bridge opening then spent 40 minutes trying to find a bike bay without success. Ended up just dumping it on DYL's for 45 secs as I ran in - didn't get a ticket either which helps!
Have to say, the new bike isn't as slow as I'd feared but the bars are a lot higher and wider which doesn't help with filtering! Doesn't corner as well either vs the CBR (to be expected), just need to plan on getting my feet out the way - scraped it on the tarmac when cornering!

3/4 of a mile or about a minute. Can't always dissappear with traffic in front of you and no room to fiter. It was after changing lanes away from him that traffic stopped and he ended up behind me again. I appreciate your sympathy though! Appleby said:

So, after getting a new chain and sprockets, plus pads all sorted last week, took the bike for a quick spin over the weekend and thought, wow, this feels like a new bike.
To then commute in yesterday morning and the bike cuts out on the Chiswick roundabout, battery is dead, won't even try to fire.
Ho hum, rectifier is my first thought. RAC turn up, we manage to clean up the plug and connectors on the rectifier as Chiswick Honda do not have a rectifier in stock. When cleaned up, I had 12.2v at idle rising to 12.7v when revved, so I rode it home and have ordered a new rectifier.
In the car today, watching bikers pass me by sat in traffic....sigh

This thread is a bit of an eye-opener as it is so London-centric.
I don't think it would be a very interesting read if it was anywhere else - "Yeah, got on my bike and rode to work. I saw another bike a couple of days ago. Waved at him. Just parked the bike on the pavement when I got there."

Motorcycling in London can be no fun at all, it can sometimes be a great experience.I don't think it would be a very interesting read if it was anywhere else - "Yeah, got on my bike and rode to work. I saw another bike a couple of days ago. Waved at him. Just parked the bike on the pavement when I got there."
Typically even when it's not much fun at all, it's better in some combination of travel time and comfort compared to public transport.

I ride 20 miles of the M6 (11 to 6) on a daily basis. I work shifts. I'm lucky enough to have secure parking behind my office in central Birmingham. I experience all the st the rest of these Greater London commuting types experience but, being of sturdy Northern stock and heavily influenced by the Black Country "just bloody get on with it" attitude, I do just that. Apart from the odd fking cockwomble trying to kill me on the aforementioned motorway of misery it's largely uneventful, really.I don't think it would be a very interesting read if it was anywhere else - "Yeah, got on my bike and rode to work.
