How are you going to fare tomorrow when it might actually be slippery? It might be a rare commute for me, so of course it's on the snow/ice/slush risk day.

Ouch sorry to hear that.

It was mentally busy today. Busiest I've seen it in years. A20 from the M25 was slow as people turning off at St Mary Cray and then all the way down to Kidbrooke.

Old Kent Road was comical. I realise now that the super adventure is wide and my appetite to filter in between busses and artics is small these days. Didn't stop some suicidal scooterists trying their luck only to get stuck half way down.
M1 was a bit crap, but once n the Edgware Rd it was ok, quite quiet actually.

The bars on this are about 80mm wider than the MT10, which does make a big difference in traffic, but so far it’s been fine.

Ditto. Bike on centre stand, I rock if forward to lean it onto the side stand but the bike slipped away, away from me. It fell over. I was mortified thinking the damage the damage! A bloke came running out of Chrysalis Lifestyle & Fitness in Hale. He didn't even pause, went straight round to the opposite side and heaved the bike upright.

Not a single scratch, not one ANYWHERE on the bike.

Top bloke, if your in the area- put some business his way.
Stroke of luck that. I’ve just got in from fixing the OS front indicator. Apart from that the crash bung is scraped, there’s a tiny mark on the exhaust and I need a new brake lever (works fine, just for aesthetics), so I’m not too unhappy.

I whimped out this morning and caught the train, just to remind me why I never catch the train!

I'm utterly amazed how a R1200RT fell over without even one scratch.

I checked the forecast and went for a couple of MOTs yesterday in bright sunshine

By the time I got there, which is only 10 minutes away, it was snowing FFS !

Only a bit and nothing settled, currently it's snowing heavily but doesn't seem to be settling in Warwickshire - it doesn't encourage motorcycle sales frown

They usually land on the rocker cover, are you sure it's not slightly scratched underneath ? You've done well if it's not damaged at all, but generally boxers are very good at handling 0mph drops. Last time I dropped my GS on the drive I think it was £10 for a replacement bit of plastic cover.

But is the road cracked and have you reported the damage??

Bit of a strange one today; bad congestion heading up from the Harrow Rd to Kilburn Lane, so much so that cars were trying to reverse back. Thought I’d give it a shot on the behemoth, fully expecting to get a bit stuck, yet every time it started to get a bit sticky the car/van/SUV moved, no revving or nudging needed from me. The joys of driving in London.

I rode to my physio appointment on Monday - it was only 5 miles each way of very sedate riding but I felt it all down the leg the following day (plus it definitely takes a certain kind of sadist to become a physio!!)
Only the 2nd time out on the new bike and after the accident - think it is going to be another month or so before I'm back to doing 140 mile a day commutes but it feels great to be able to get back on a bike and get out there! Still waiting on the insurance to payout on helmet/leather cover, out of pocket expenses, and waiting for an offer on the injury side of things - but at least they ended up paying very close to the value the old bike was insured for after some back and forth.

Rode in for the first time since December yesterday (combination of moving out temporarily for building works and pat leave), got the bike started the prior evening, took it for a run...needed a jump yesterday morning and wouldn't start to come home...new battery ordered!

Standard of driving has been awful this week, maybe something to do with the clock change. It normally drops when the weather improves, but I don’t remember it being this early in the year before.

A friend got taken out on Tuesday and I’ve seen some very careless and just plain old dangerous driving.

Great to hear that you were able to get out on the new bike. Keep active - just don't over do it.

Congrats on the new arrival! I found the NC needed a new battery every 2 years, the datatool kills it I think- in my experience without warning!

As much as I found the NC dull I'm missing it now, got an er6n and it's so uncomfortable by comparison...

I was renewing my GS insurance, I shopped around & found that adding commuting to SD&P added 50% to the premium. Given that I only take my bike to work a few days a year I opted out.

Has it always been this steep, I never noticed it before ?

Highlight of today is that I'm commuting! First time this year on the bike and fk, it was cold this morning!

Every time I ride into London there are new 20mph limits! rolleyes What was telling on the A11/Bow Rd this morning was that everyone, including the buses and the marked police car, were ignoring the 20 limit and doing 30mph - except at the speed camera!

I hope the dry weather holds for the ride home this evening.
