All boring for me on the bike

Did however see an argumentative (drunk?) chav get clipped by a van in Catford yesterday evening - decided to walk across a main 4 lane junction regardless of any cars driving on it and going through green lights and then gets annoyed/aggressive when clipped with a wing mirror.....

This needs its own thread. And how much was it?
I'll try and find time!

Cost-wise I can't really be accurate with, as I went along on the inaugural "warts & all" tour at cost price, but I believe a 6 day tour with bike, route, guide, ferry from Spain and hotels will be c.£2500 plus food (laughably cheap in Morocco, a very good hotel 3-course meal was 12DH, about 96p!) and fuel (< £1/litre).

My highlight was being mesmerised by a young lady jogger going through Richmond Park. She had the biggest tits.........surely it hurts to jog if they are THAT big???

Sometimes, I agree that the 20 speed limit is not a target, so I dropped it to about 12mph to make sure I didn't endanger any deers, until she had passed that is

Bubble butt's on cyclists, normally near london bridge (especially with worn, semi-sheer lycra) are always worth riding "carefully" for

Normal commute in this morning although my bike has thrown a warning light, the red F1 light is now solidly illuminated, speed controller being the likely suspect I think.

Another issue goes on the list to be sorted....bike currently needs:

Crank case replacing (have the part, need to swap it over) as it's scuffed and now dribbling oil from a hairline crack
OSF indicator hanging off (thanks scooter s) with the orange cover smashed off (I have a new one ready to go on and tape should fix)
NSR indicator bulb blown
Temperamental speedo (linked to F1 light I think). Sometimes, well most of the time, it won't give me a speed readout....well ~2.4k rpm in 6th = 30ish. As it's also linked to the odometer and I'm borderline on my restricted miles this year I'm not in too much of a rush to fix this one.
Foot brake lever a little bent/out of adjustment
Front pads getting a little low (i think, brakes not as sharp as they were)

Nice little list that.... :/

So much to do but so little time to actually do anything. Had to book a few days off work later this month to try and get on top of the garage/finish the DIY so going to try and squeeze in these jobs then I think

I wouldn't know where to start with that kind of list. Good luck though.

Back to work for me. Nothing to shout about apart from a reminder to ALWAYS do your life saver checks before switching lanes. I was sat in the middle lane on the motorway this morning, felt I knew what was behind me and on coming. Indicated, check mirros, started to move out of my lane whilst glancing over my shoulder for a final check and a 5 series BMW was not too far overtaking. Needless to say my heart skipped a beat. So remember your checks people, even if you think you know it's all clear.

Went on a good ride out yesterday with some local bikers over to Matlock Bath. Some are a bit nutty but what a great bunch of dudes they are, had a right laugh and felt like I'd improved my dodgy cornering skills a tad.

I know from personal experience - you can fix the rear brake lever on cbr600f's with heat and bending if its just a bit bent wink if you don't want to shell out for a new one.

Yeah, bend is very minor - do have another in the either of UPS/Royal Fail, for all of £6 i thought it easier. The current one does still work, just looks a little shoddy/sits a little too high.

Sort your indicators first, then the crank case, then the brake pads - fk everything else.

Thankfully the speedo works, well when it wants really.

Will typically work for the first 1/2 mile of the journey and then not again until it feels like it - my 11.2 mile commute is typically registering about 3.5 miles. Thankfully MOT not due again until mid-may 2018

This has been my commute over the past week or so:

Adventure tour with Toro Adventure, aboard a brand-new 1200GS Rallye. About 2500km all in, in 6 days. Amazing sights & scenery, the bikes were epic, been (properly) into the Sahara on the Merzouga leg, ridden the (in)famous Tizi n'Tichka pass - the list goes on. It's only just sinking in what we've seen, done and achieved. I'll post a few more pics up if anyone's interested.
That looks a great route...am planning a similar trip myself for next Easter but intending to get ferry to Santander ferry and ride Spain and back as well. Thought what's the point of having an Adventure bike and not taking it on an adventure... might extend the route west for a couple of days on the beach at Agadir. Would definitely be interested in a thread about your experience.

Cheers

The speedometer is not mentioned in the motorcycle test manual. It's certainly never been checked on my bikes.

https://www.gov.uk/topic/mot/manuals

Even for a car, the speedometer's operation is not checked by driving the car.
Reason for Rejection -
1. Speedometer not fitted.
2. Speedometer incomplete, clearly inoperative, or the dial glass broken or missing.
3. The speedometer cannot be illuminated.

I've never seen a speedo tested on any MOT - car or bike, I don't know how they would test it with the car/bike sat still

Guy who came on our Morocco trip and works in London got punted off by a SMIDSY in New Cross yesterday. He's fairly beaten up, dislocated shoulder and various other injuries. No word on how the (almost new) bike is.

This is a guy who not only rode 2500km in Morocco last week without incident but has also done a 72,000 mile round-the-world trip on a bike.

New Cross is an accident waiting to happen, hateful bottleneck with too many busses.

Might be the garages I use but my car & bike never go on rollers, the bike MOT tester attaches something to the front wheel - other end attached to the wall and then winds the handle until a certain amount of force has been reached, brakes tested.
