I just bought a pair of Keis heated gloves. The Gerbing's didn't fit me and were really thick and couldnt' feel anything through them. My one journey with them turned on was bliss. On the lowest setting. THey did say that in their new jacket they've removed the highest heat setting as it was too hot and not used....
Well they run tight sizing on Gerbings and they are really not good when they are brand new and need breaking in.. once they are they are far more flexible and offer a tad more feel but at the end of the day they are winter gloves.

I guess the gloves don't work for all I've had no issues with mine at all. But hey I've retired from Winter commuting so continued good luck to all those continuing to need do this year round. Riding in winter sucks in the UK but when the bike is still the best choice to get to work you get on with it.

It would take me twice as long to commute by car, so you just suck it up, on the plus side, my confidence in the rain has gone up dramatically.

All the cars were merging from the left lane going downhill to the right lane to go straight ahead. I filtered to the front to find three cars stopped with their hazards on. Car at front has all doors open so I can’t get past, and just wait, secretly thinking ‘what are these numpties doing?’. Someone eventually shuts the door and I ride past to see they’ve ran some poor bd over. He was okay I think, didn’t look but did feel a bit bad.

Had a bit of a sixth sense moment on the way back from work in the heavy rain. Went into a sweeping left hander a lot slower than I normally do, to find a farmers pick up pulling out of a field entrance, stopped a good few metres from him with no drama at all. If I had been doing my normal speed, I would still have stopped but it would have been a lot closer.

As an aside, I highly rate the Michelin Road 5s in the wet.

The Gerbings were too big for me, not too small. They felt like my non-heated winter gloves in terms of stiffness etc. Which is fine, until I tried the Keis which fitted me better and are much softer, thinner and more like my autumn ones. Only time will tell if they're any good in the cold though!

I was filtering behind a girl on a monkey bike westbound on the a40 yesterday evening. Dipsh*t uber driver went right across her in the rain so she had to brake. She gave him a head shake but not much effect so I thought I'd help out when I went past by bouncing the revs off the limiter and giving the driver a nice stare. Plan backfired somewhat as she thought the revving was aimed at her and she moved in to let me through. So if you're riding a monkey bike with a black/pink jacket and pink helmet, sorry!

On that same ride but earlier in the journey I was trying to get past a clapped out red golf gti. He was off centre in his lane so difficult to pass but I noticed his window was open so gave the throttle a blip so he'd let me through. He didn't, but it wasn't until a bit later when I finally overtook and realised he had his phone resting against the speedo and was watching TV. That in itself is not uncommon, but a closer inspection revealed he was watching something of a more adult nature. Literally nearly fell off my bike laughing. Need to get a mount for my go pro as some of the stuff I see on the daily commute beggars belief.

It was very wet yesterday. Rain suit saves me any dramas though. Managed to leave my textiles zipped together inside the rain suit and get in / out of it all like a big onesie - saves much hassle.

There was a 4 car shunt on the dual carriage way yesterday evening causing a massive tail back. All 4 cars and their occupants were out, standing in the outside lane staring at their cars and taking pictures (in the dark...). The shunt looked very minor, everyone was up and walking around (in a live lane) so I had to stop and give them a few choice words whilst pointing out the hard shoulder was available for use...

Shunt on the northbound carriage this morning causing southbound tail backs. Seems these dark mornings brings out all the best drivers.

See less and less bikers on the commute now, no more than two each way.

Sounds like a decent idea for a game... a mash up between pokemon and death race would be pretty cool.

The way some people filter, I think it is already being played

Got taken out by an Audi driver!

Bit of dramatic licence there but some oncoming tt started drifting towards me, I am 100% he or she were on their phone. I beeped and had to veer left as I went by them to avoid them. To be fair I didn’t notice this sludgy leaves-type mush and that was down I went. in the A1 didn’t stop, obvs.

I’m alright but snapped hand guard (£70), lever and a few scrapes to the panel, don’t know how much that costs. This bike now looks like your typical stty commuter lol value is probably through the floor

Not much to see

Far from ideal but at least you’re ok, just smack their wing mirror off when you next see them and call it karma

Mate, you are me a few years ago. Commuting all the time on random stters, it is a false economy. I spent so much time on the drive way tinkeing and trying to fix things, only for something else to go wrong a few weeks later and I am stood at the side of the road on a cold December night.

Sack it all off and buy a new bike on pcp, a cheap end commuter which is the same price as a phone contract. I have seen your posts in the debt free thread, it will still give you time to pay down your debts whilst not having to spend a fortune on this kind of thing. I purchased a cheap honda originally for about £59 a month with a small balloon at the end, it was the best thing i ever did.

Either way, i hope there was no engine damage and you get it sorted!

Know what you’re saying - only issue for me then is insurance. Living in SE London, 2 miles from Croydon fully comp insurance (which I’d need for a new bike) is well over £1,500 for almost anything, renewal for this TPO is £250. May reconsider when I can park in the work’s underground car park so I know it won’t get stolen when parked on-street either. This bike is a lot better than the old CBR600 banger, first thing to go wrong this year and my fault tbh. Thankfully I’ve got no engine damage or anything like that, the chain just fell off.

That's good news - when the chain on my RD350 jumped off it locked the rear wheel at the end of an N/S/L dual carriageway - probably just as well I was slowing down for a red light!

I took the split-link out of it and pushed my bike nearly 3 miles home - at least it was mostly downhill! rolleyes

It was almost odd to not be riding in the rain today, quite a pleasant ride in, fairly mild too, although it looks like it will get chilly again by Thursday.

You get used to them and they do 'break in' which helps.. but main question were you hands warm? i.e. you didn't think about them?
