Today's highlight (literally) has been three separate Triumph XC 800 things behind me with their lights on main beam. Headache inducing and really distracting. The blue light on the dash is a bit of a giveaway lads...

Usually this is the preserve of ped Bois who either don't know or care as they have no CBT, Just seems to have been three Triumphs today!
dunno, apparently mine does the same, someone i sometimes join on the commute say that mine dazzles, and it only one low beam, not high frown

keep meaning to get it booked in to be checked, but too lazy at the mo, it has passed MOT though

I too find tts on full beam make life pretty damn uncomfortable. My mirrors are positioned to give me a good view of what's behind me (that is their job after all) but it also means I get dazzled by the inconsiderate wkers with high beam on or badly adjusted lights.

A very quick Google shows it's pretty easy to adjust the headlight aim and does not need a spanner monkey. "How to" is in the owners handbook!

A lot of car drivers think my Africa Twin has its full beam on, they put their fog lights on to try & p*ss me off so I then actually put full beam on in retaliation - when they turn their fogs off I turn my full beam off.

My headlight is adjusted correctly, just bloody bright which I cant help.

A couple of weeks ago I somehow managed to instantaneously invent the universal hand signal to a following biker to turn their lights down - can't remember what it was but it worked rofl

I think it was something to do with pointing behind me (at the other bike) and then waving my hand downwards!

noticed that quite a few bikes have the same issue, dunno if the headlight is adjusted with no one on the bike, or if its just not checked that much during the MOT.

to be honest, i think might points up a smidge with my ft arse on the bike.

I would prefer it pointing down as i would prefer to light the road, not the top of the road sign in front of me!

Going through Lewisham yesterday, for some reason white van man got VERY upset that a pesky motorbike overtook him. I moved to the middle of the road, waited til he steamed up the inside of me and went nuclear, then just smiled and waved in his face and pissed off up the outside of everything as I would have done anyway biggrin

I'd suggest being the bigger man

My highlight today was seeing a cyclist jump a red light whilst telling me to 'F*ck off!' when I told him it was a red light - lights went green, saw he was about to go around a puddle but the timing was so perfect that we both arrived at the puddle at the same time I went straight through it & soaked him.

Next set of lights he comes up to me asking who the hell do I think i am & why did I go through the puddle - explained to him that if he hadn't had jumped the red light he wouldn't have got wet, then he pushed me etc etc, told me that I hope I get whats coming to me etc etc. More mouth at the next set of lights (he stopped for the red) where I gave him a thumbs up & blew him a kiss before the lights went green again, didn't see him again.

That was sorta what I was trying to do, not have a barney, just wave and leave him to rant to himself. I often just ignore completely, it was only because he raced up the side of me, intent on reacting. At that point in the road (Loampit Vale) all the bikes are going up the outside anyway.

Had similar with a cyclist the other day, there's a dedicated cycle lane (going straight) and the driving lane is to the right of it. I get a dedicated left turn green light, which in turn means the cyclists have a red light as I am crossing over where they would be going. An unobservant cyclist figured he'd jump the red only to then spot me, leaning into the L/H corner, and despite the low speed no real chance of braking until the bike was fully upright again. He had to brake so hard he nearly went over the handlebars and then put a hand up to apologise to my displeased glare. Hopefully there's a lesson to be learned for him that red lights are there for a bloody reason.

Helmet fell off my mirror whilst locking up earlier.

Just bought a new tinted visor for it.

Need to decide if I replace it like for like and utilise the visor or if I get one with an internal visor.

Neither is ideal as I had been saving for a 1 piece which will have to wait now. frown

Do some more reading about it online- I dropped my helmet from a similar height last year and immediately came to the conclusion I had to replace it. Reading online the 80:20 concensus seemed to be that if you're head wasn't in it and you didn't actually lob it out of a window you're probably ok. It all comes down to the lining becoming damaged/distorted which it's unlikely to do with no internal pressure being applied on it.

I ended up concluding it wasn't worth replacing the helmet just yet.

Just to add, and God only knows what happens to them whilst they're being shipped. There certainly wasn't a lot of padding in the box when they shipped my wife's HJC.

Years ago I hung an Arai on a hook in the garage. Concrete floor. Went back to find it on the deck.

I sent it off to Arai under that scheme they have where they will inspect it f.o.c and it came back with a clean bill of health.

Obviously ignore all of the above if you just want a new helmet!! biggrin

Same with my LS2 - the adjusters on the top had cut through the cardboard box - not impressed

Just to follow up. Crashed on the way home.

What a day.

Guy in stationary traffic decided to turn right just as I was about to pass. I checked my camera and there was 1 second between indicator going on and his manoeuvre. Immediately admitted fault and that he didn’t see me.

I’m fine. Bike needs a new rear set, new levers and new indicators. Maybe a new front wheel.

Sorry about the off man, and doubly so that it was due to the usual inconsiderate move.
Hope you are alright at least

The parking rank where I park at work has been festooned with notices from Hackney Counail (thanks Abbopotamous) advising that there will be a consultation period (which means they've decided to do it and are only paying lip service to the public) whereby they will introduce a parking permit system for bikes which will "stop the use of more-polluting motorcycles". They've helpfully added a web address for everyone to read about the details, but there's nothing at the web address when you go there. I'm going to take a wild stab that a 1200 BMW is "more polluting".

Yet another stupid, ill-thought-out, loony leftie policy designed to ps off a small percentage of the population for no real reason other than "just because".

Ironically the street I work in splits in half for Hackney and Islington councils, although the nearest/largest Islington bike spaces have been suspended for nearly a year now, so if Hackney push this through there will be a bunfight every morning for the smaller bike parks which only hold 6-8 bikes each. Or more likely, Islington will follow suit.

I don't mind my job but FK I hate the commute.

Actual highlight was the whole commute in. Nearly clear thanks to Half Term. Usual 90 minute journey took just under 55 minutes.

Only thing that irritated me was a biker filtering. Now, I'm not against filtering and I'm planning on learning to ride myself to make use of this but as I was doing about 10mph on the M56 through a few minutes of traffic, this bike came screaming through and I suspect doing 50+. 10/10 for the balls to do such a speed through a tiny gap, 0/10 for riding safely.

This sort of st drives me up the wall!
If you have the link, post it? I would like to try and at least comment. Naturally no one in the council will be held to account on it.
