I suppose trading the scooter for an NC750 is probably the obvious answer but that is too sensible so looking at KTM 1090 Adventures at the moment.
I have an NC750x, it's a decent bike- quite boring but dependable. Should be fine if you've got a second bike (I don't and am always thinking of changing!)I've commuted throughout the lockdown. Roads are actually busier now than I recall back in March!
This morning consisted of negotiating 4 way temporay traffic lights: it apparently takes 5 days to cut a small trench across a main road to install a new water pipe
Apart from the gridlock, the rest of the ride was a 15 minute blast through woodland - really nice at this time of year!

Anyone commuting in this heat? Must admit I'm pretty ok with not having to commute into central London right now.
In the mornings it isnt too bad on the motorway, but blackheath / A2 through to Westminster has been warm even at 0630ish... the afternoons though - WOW, sweltering isnt the word! Plus the warm weather seems to have brought out the wobblers for a 2nd round - getting very tired of slow filterers not moving over when theres a string of bikes bunching up behind them! Not looking forward to the end fo the week and the forecast hot weather and heavy rain!
(edited for typos as my fingers seem super special today!)

I've started coming into the office for a day or 2 each week, the roads are so much quieter, its actually quite pleasant to be back on the bike!]
the road "improvements" they've made around the city are stupid however, only vaguely working now due to the materially lower traffic density.

Riding to work on this rowdy little terrier this morning.
As good and fun as 1000cc supernakeds are, it's still properly fun and hilarious jumping on a daft 125cc and kicking it's head in for the short commute in to the office.
Infact I would say that 125cc childs bikes are better than 600cc sportsbikes, at least I can use all of the power, nearly all of the time in it instead of wobbling around on a 600cc sportsbike not being able to use all of its power.

commuting highlight has been riding into work 4 days in a row!!
its just nice to get out on the bike, didnt really see any bad driving, traffic was quiet (despite Gateshead's best attempts to completely screw rush hour traffic)
having sat outside for 5 months with little to no attention, my bike now looks like its been at the bottom of a swamp, mirror stalks are starting to ruse, handbars paint looks badly oxidised, fasteners all look bad, and brake calipers and ABS rings all look bad
anyone got any suggestions on how to remove some of the oxidisation and rust without having disassemble my bike?
thanks

Know that feeling, went back to mine last week (still filthy with the winter grime) and its looking a bit grimey - the front shock has also pissed out its fluid while sat around and the headstock bearing is knocking even louder than before - I'll now have to get these bits sorted this winter for the MOT (unless I can get it all cleaned up/hidden prior) its just nice to get out on the bike, didnt really see any bad driving, traffic was quiet (despite Gateshead's best attempts to completely screw rush hour traffic)

I haven't stopped riding everyday this year between my job/volunteering/general helping out and it now feels like everyone is back to work/school this week.. roads around my way are back to being really busy..
I've found the driving standards are lower than before though...there seems to be a lot more people stuck to their phones whilst driving.
Already had a 3 car smash on the expressway yesterda with a mini ending up on the central reservation.
Also got flashed by the person doing 28 in a 60 zone that I dared to overtake...
Fun times....

Well I thought I'd seen it all in 30 years. Pulled up next to a young lad on a new Honda PCX this morning and he's watching TV on his big I-phone thingy mounted on the dash. I had to double take as at first I thought it was some sort of sat-nav, I do worry about the mentality of people.
The best bit it was the great British bake-off he was watching not some moto GP

You're all making me jealous being out on your bikes. I take my first ride post-CBT this weekend if the weather isn't too bad. I don't, however have a work commute at this time. My office capacity is down 90% and since March they've said it likely won't increase much until New Year. I can't complain too much, it's saving me a fortune each month in fuel, let alone wear and tear on vehicles.

Bah, get into work! I've posted my best times into the city over lockdown, it was great riding the bike. I even took one of my old classics (Triumph 3T) in on a few days, why not. Trouble is now traffic seems to have returned to some normality and we are heading for winter, I shall look back on the "lockdown" with fond memories.M25 ACW past Heathrow is comparatively dead at the moment. Been commuting best part of 50 miles each way and instead of cutting through Sunbury and whatnot I’m just plodding around the motorway and enjoying the space and weather (until today when it rained a bit).
Nice to be back to riding and thinking about a new ‘daily’ bike.
