The bike is altogether however whilst preparing it for its MoT a couple of weeks ago, I discovered that the front brake wasn't operating the rear light. Further investigation found that a cable had snapped where it goes into the brake lever. Easy enough a job I thought....well it would have been if 1. I had the hands the size of a Japanese midget and 2. the new cable that was sent actually worked. After ordering another and taking the knuckles off my hands.......job done

All booked in for the MoT on Saturday so I went in the garage just to give it the once over. Everything was working but seemed very lazy, ie indicators flashing really really slowly. So I whipped the battery out to give it a bit of a boost for an hour. I stuck it back and guess what....? fk all worked

Derek, you are a little bd

Yes, 6v. I have tried bypassing the battery and firing it up. Everything then works apart from the indicators. The bike only has one fuse which has been removed, looked at for damage, the holder cleaned although there was no sign of corrosion, and the holder prongs squeezed in a bit to make sure its sitting in correctly.

Still no joy

The thought of your old miserable Northern face being so sad and angry, has just made me laugh out loud. Not a "lol". A proper laugh out loud!

Wrong bulbs fitted?

That would slow it down....

Can replace the relay or something to compensate I believe, but never done it myself...

Everything had been working fine after the brake light was sorted. I'm pretty sure most of the bulbs are original

My 125's lights, indicators and horn refused to work properly then stopped working altogether, I stripped the whole harness out of the bike and checked everything.

Turns out it was the first thing I had checked, the glass inline fuse from the battery which looked ok.

I started a thread about it and my stupidity earlier in the year.

I'll replace the fuse but curious as to why when I bypassed the battery everything would work apart from the indicators
. Am I wrong to assume that the fuse should be affecting all the electrics?

The problem with the indicators could be something entirely different

Bear with me as I could be talking st... Brake light wasn't working, therefore one bulb less, so incorrect wattage could be hidden.

Brake light connected, one bulb more added, wattage then exceeds unit, so slow flash?

But it was all working before the cable for the brake light snapped. So all lights have been working correctly together in the past

Worth getting a new relay?

Check everything first, re-check your brake switch too.

Don't forget the fuse. Or fuses

here's a hail Mary that I've experienced before....

Check if any or all of the indicator bulbs are twin filament type like a brake light.
If they are, the filaments are different wattages and if wired up backwards the relay will see a different load and flash much slower.
Weird sounding I know but I remember this causing me no end of headaches way back when......
Also, the AR had 6volt lektricks I think. Check all the bulbs and flasher relay are the correct type.

I'd check the battery connections are good and tight and the connectors are still securely attached to the cable. Also check the earth...

Faults are usually with the bit you fiddled with last.
