No idea.
I've been followed through south London by one gang.
Yesterday on my way home from london over taken by an r6, no plates, rider looked back at me, balaclava on, I followed him there was no key in the ignition. No police around.

I agree. And I genuinely believe bystanders would act differently anywhere but London. I want to say anywhere up north. But I like to think I'm open minded; not all southerners are that soft surely?
Would you steam into 4 s with a lot less to lose than you, if they were armed with angle grinders etc and it wasn't your bike ?
I don't think you know what you'd do until you are in that situation, BUT I like to think I'd at least have a go !

Exactly, I wasn't there so don't know. I just don't think I'd think it through like that (perhaps worryingly so). I definitely wouldn't / wouldn't expect anyone else to just fly in with fists. But come on, pretty easy to push over a distracted yob, especially one on a bike, they're pretty vulnerable - it's hardly a hero act. I'd like to think a few in a crowd would act similarly. Take the rest from there

Quite frankly as galling as it is, I'd simply just walk on by. Even if it was my own bike, i don't want to be stabbed or have acid thrown in my face for a mass produced insured bike.

Think what you like of me but no one will think your hard or be impressed when your lying in the road with a compound fracture to your arm or leg.

Sometimes it's better to do something rather than stand around and just watch

You would have to be pretty stupid to intervene in a robbery involving four tooled up blokes on bikes.
You would also have to be pretty stupid to park a nice bike in London and expect it to still be there when you get back.

The answer is to allow the Police to pursue them, which they can't at the moment in case they fall off and hurt themselves - it's madness.

These scum don't care if they get banged up or not.
Indeed they don't, that's probably due to the fact that they don't get caught. Dibble are not interested at all.

Doing 65 mph in a 60 limit on a open quiet road is crime of the year. Yet these s get away with whatever they like init braaa

The police are now following, but using specially trained officers

The police ARE doing something.

There was that video of them taking out a stolen scooter in Mitcham fairly recently.

This. Swear the police are more interested in speeding as they can catch you and give you a big fine instead of going after real criminals. Some vigilante needs to take a baseball bat to these lot and beat them into a pulp.

To all the people saying don't to anything... Pathetic. As they leave, steam out and knock them off, jump on their leg, stab them in the eye, whatever, but do something. These thieves are cowards, attack them.

I have a number of times, in the UK and here in Spain where, it must be said, the Police are exceptionally encouraging, even in sketchy circumstances. You would not believe the number of people, or times the Guardia/mosses have told people, including me, to kill burglars, dump the body, tell nobody.

Are you some kind of superman? Taking on four armed scrotes is only going to end up with you at best going to hospital, at worst the morgue. Have you seen the video of them throwing acid at someone trying to intervene? Seem the stories of people getting stabbed and killed for intervening? Not a chance I'd step in and if you see that as pathetic, then good for you Captain America.

Edit to add that I leave my car keys downstairs so that anyone breaking in has no reason to come upstairs and bash my (or my family's) skull in for them.

This guy was charged with GBH after shooting at burgulars in a car who he thought were trying to run him over.

If you do anything in this country, expect to be prosecuted.

He was later cleared. But yes, our laws/ culture need work.

Personally I'd still chance it with pushing a yob off a moped, rather than become a passive, walk on by, look only after number one type.

OK, so that's one of them taken care of. What about the other three(or more) simultaneously coming at you with bars/bats/angle grinders/acid?

+1

And yet if we carry so much as a pepper spray we end up being locked up.

If some of the armed police you around the west end came across a gang stealing bikes would they intervene? They are probably the only ones who could.

None of this happened so it's pointless speculating. I get they're not nice people, but they're busy trying to escape with a stollen bike in quite a precarious position. They'd have their hands full trying to sort that mess out

Maybe if one person wades in some more would too ?
I know if I didn't have a go I'd have trouble with my conscience.
