Michelin Power RS

Anyone running these yet? - http://www.motorcyclenews.com/product-reviews/tyre...
Launch reviews seem to be positive but always good to hear from real world usage.

Yep... done about 1000 miles on them.Launch reviews seem to be positive but always good to hear from real world usage.
Too early to say though really as not pushed them hard due to weather conditions.
I'll be subscribing to this one. Not run Michelin before other than wets on a track bike which are excellent
Currently running M7RR after lots of recommendations. No questioning cold/wet grip. Best I've used, but I have on a couple occasions wanted a bit more on the rear which has stepped out
These say slightly longer warm up but better dry grip and same wet grip...so time will tell

I've gone from the M7RR's to Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3's to the RS's in the space of 18 months... Currently running M7RR after lots of recommendations. No questioning cold/wet grip. Best I've used, but I have on a couple occasions wanted a bit more on the rear which has stepped out

The M7's were very good on the blade but slowed the steering a touch, didn't give me good mileage and were the only tyre that let go on me a couple of times including a nasty moment at Donington last year. TBF to the tyres the previous two sets were spot on... so it may have been suspension issues or stty surface...
Regardless it affected my confidence a little so I thought would try the Pirelli DR3's which were absolutely brilliant on the blade but always liking to try new st for the sake of it I thought I'd give the RS's a go... the cheap £49 track day deal made it a no brainer!
Initial impressions are pretty good but very quick steering on the blade and do take a little longer to warm up than the Pirelli's I had before (I've had the back move a little when cold) ... no issues at all in the wet either despite very little tread grooves!
IMHO all of them are better than we are ... but at the moment my favourite is the Pirelli DR3's. They suit the blade and my riding.

Good bit of info there. Someone else mentioned DR3's better in dry M7RR's better in wet but both very similar and excellent tyres. I ran Rosso Corsa last year at IOM and had no slides or grip issues at all but it was dry pretty much the whole weekThe M7's were very good on the blade but slowed the steering a touch, didn't give me good mileage and were the only tyre that let go on me a couple of times including a nasty moment at Donington last year. That's a good comparison, I've had DRC's, Supercorsa's & Racetec RR's on the 1198. The Racetec's (K3) have been the best so far (good mileage, lovely when cranked over) but tempted by a bit more longevity and larger operating window. The M7's were very good on the blade but slowed the steering a touch, didn't give me good mileage and were the only tyre that let go on me a couple of times including a nasty moment at Donington last year. I had Power Pure's on my old S1K, which I liked and then Power 3's which felt horrible, no confidence once cranked over. Don't want to have a few thousand miles of that again!

I would say it's the other way around: M7RRs better in dry compared to DR3s. DRC >= M7RR > DR3.Also be keen to see how the new Michelin Power RS is... I've never been a fan of Michelin tyres because of the very pointy tyre carcass which means overly quick steering, not progressive on turn in, and numb when laid over. So will be keen to know if the new PowerRS is shaped any different.

Agree on the overly quick steering... to the point I've made suspension changes to calm it down a bit.The front on the RS is also dual compound apparently ... which might go some way to improving feedback from the front (softer shoulders) I would hope.

Any further feedback on the Michelin RSes? I need to replace the DR3 which I was not overly impressed with, and thought the DRCs outperformed them. So Michelin RS - yay or nay?
Im guessing you must run a fast road pace. Anyone that rides like they are used to SC or DRC say that about the Rosso3 or M7RRAlso I second the tyre pressure bit. Metz said run 42 rear...it was a joke, like seriously you cannot ride at pace, lean over and wind it on. TC comes on or if you ride a low setting/off it comes round on you. 34/35psi rear for me is much better with 33/4 front
For summer I will also switch to a stickier DRC or SC and will leave the M7RR as a cold/winter tyre. They are great for this but move about too much in the summer for my liking (rear only front has been fine)

Front M7RR I have no problems with but rear definitely needs the pressure drop. I run 35psi front and rear on Blade and 34f 36r on the Speed Triple
No TC on my bikes though - generally when the rear gets loose, I'm reacting like this baby...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9oxmRT2YWw
I've done a few miles now and have been able to push the RS's a bit on the road and track.
A very good tyre for sure and the front is superb ... but you do need to play with the pressures.
I've settled on 35:35 on the blade and it's spot on. Michelins recommended road pressures were frankly ridiculous... the recommended track pressure was pretty much spot on now.
Be interested to hear other people's feedback or whether I'm just talking ste (as usual) lol
