The throttle response from a closed to partial opening is really bad on mine too.
Mine is genuinely quite lively. If anything it took me by surprise how lively it is for the first few times I pulled away and needed to pull the clutch in again, as the bike really took off. Bear in mind I've only managed 160 miles, so need some more time to get used to it. It feels good though and can't wait to get to the higher revs.
That's kind of what I'm describing I think - it's all or nothing, it kicks in with a big hit which is fine when you're whacking the throttle open to make ground but when you're trying to maintain a steady 30mph or feed the throttle in gently when leant over it can be a pain. Or rather mine can, yours may have benefitted from two years development smile

That's not a snatchy throttle to me, it's just reposnsive. Snatchy suggests it's a bit hit and miss whether it feeds the power in or not. I might be wrong though.

Fair enough, apologies if my terminology wasn't clear. It's a lack of finesse in the first few degrees of throttle, a clumsiness, a jerkiness. Either way if it's not causing you irritation so far then hopefully it won't smile

I think we're at cross purposes. There's no jerkiness with my throttle at all, it is quite lively and doesn't take much to get the revs up at all when trying to pull away, but it feels very smooth, I just need to be careful with letting the clutch out, as that's quite on and off with not much leverage to slip it.

Whichever way I'm looking at it, the bike is much more lively than the one it's replacing. If I'm disappointed with anything it's the the fact it's got standard pegs and levers, that's a bit poor IMO.

Ah ok. Have you got the M or the standard one? The rearsets are pretty cheap looking, I'd like to change them too but the Gilles ones are silly money.

The M version. I'll get some Diamond ones, they're always decent value and good quality and I know Joe is using them on his bike, so that'll do for me

Nice! I'd love an M but just couldn't justify the extra cash. Lovely bikes tho.

Nice, but imho the Repsol paint does not fit 954RR.

I just love 954RR.
It's simple, but it works beautifully!
And if you high-side on race track (like brother of my friend did on his 929, 4 weeks in coma), well, that's how it is, I also would take a modern bike on a track, not these old-school beauties.

Bump with an update

I've now done 1500 miles on mine after piling the miles on to get to 600 (first service) and then another 900 on a recent trip to the NW200. I can honestly say that this bike is brilliant, I'm not finding the problems that others have, but maybe I'm just lucky. Compared to my HP4 this is a step up. I let rip on some roads and even though I'd never ridden them before and was totally confident in the bike.

However, I have to add that I've spent the winter messing about on Offroad bikes and that seems to have pushed my confidence to a new level anyway, so that might be hiding some of the flaws.

I'm no riding god, so not going to get into some of the stuff that others talk about in other threads, I just love riding this bike.

Recently read in a few places that mapping and brakes are improved on 2017 model.

Lucky boy.
