Well I think the bike is stolen and he's using false plates on it.
I think he and his 4 mates are connected with it all.

There is the alternative that he's bought the bike from someone and has inadvertently bought a stolen bike. In which case he's potentially got leads on a gang of thieves

But I guess you think it's not a good use of my time. Up to you I guess. Maybe I should ignore it all and not give a st. Hey it's probably nothing right?

If it is the Police will exonerate all concerned.

Oh and as for waste of time 36 months and over 1000 posts. Yeah I'm the one with too much time laugh
Not taking sides as I agree with what you've done, but he posts around half as much as you on average
Strange comebacks are only to be expected from Rich_W, doesn't generally make a lot of sense. May have fallen off his bike and landed on his head one too many times, I fear.

I agree with Biker 1, the OP does appear to have wasted an inordinate amount of time and effort to find a reason to report his neighour to the Police.

Well done OP. However, I do find it strange how after all this effort you couldn't be bothered with a 10 minute wait in a que (although it can be frustrating). Maybe next time you're around the local police station just pop in and see what they have to say about it. That's all you can do really.

It's not an inordinate amount of time though, is it? He's noticed a series of unusual events and made a pretty reasonable connection. Then followed that up with a couple of quick online checks to enforce his suspicions and then notified the authorities.

How is this possibly a bad thing? If your neighbour saw someone stealing your car, would you rather he called the police or would you rather he just finishes making his cup of Bovril and then go and watch EastEnders? You know, because being concerned and vigilant is such a terrible thing.

Totally agree. You could always try telling a local councilor and getting them to push it with the police if nothing is happening.

I suppose it depends how badly you want to report a neighbour to the Police. Terrorist - yes. Possible dodgy motorbikes - no.

So you're confirming you wouldn't want your neighbour to call the police if he saw someone stealing your stuff?

Remind me not to buy as Ducati if they rot after being outside for 2 months hehe
It was outside in December / January, getting covered in rain and crap most days. All the exposed alloy went furry and non-stainless fasteners went rusty.

I still have it, but fell out of love with it when I got it back and it hasn't moved since. That's about 5 years ago now - it's going to take weeks to get it looking nice again frown

So your stance is that everyone should just let criminals get on with their business without interference? Nice.

What if it was your motorbike that had possibly been stolen?

If it was my stolen motorbike that the guy has, I'd be very pleased that the OP had reported his suspicions. I bet you would too.

Why do you want to protect (potential) criminal activity?

OP, is this you?

wink

All joking aside, nothing wrong with what you've done. I'd like to think I'd do the same.

It was a busybody like the OP who was responsible for my very immaculate Ducati Supersport being removed from my garage by the police and left to rot in an open compound for 2 months after they cut a massive hole in my garage door.

The garage is rented, so I'm not sure if the landlord managed to get the door replaced by the police or his own insurance - but they absolutely refused to take any responsibility for the damage caused to my bike.
I would be absolutely furious in your shoes, but it is also 'busybodies' like the OP who are one of the few ways the police can ever hope to cut down on this kind of crime so I cant critisise

That's a really dimwitted question. Obviously I would but that has nothing to do with this thread.

MArsh Phantom is the biggest troll going, ignore.

FWIW my plates were cloned on a car and the person running around with them crashed into someone and left the scene which left a third party with an accident to pay for on their own insurance and me having to prove that I and my car were not involved. As you can imagine this dispute took months, my premiums had gone up and generally a PITA but not as much as the third party would have experienced no doubt.

Although it's a different situation with the bike and it's seems something is fishy. You did the right thing reporting it to the police or they would never know.

Maybe the DVLA interested to know too.

Perfectly valid question. You'd want your neighbour to be the dreadful curtain twitcher you dislike IF it's your stuff that's under threat.

This is why people hate you, by the way.
