So are K&N going to pay for 3 litres of oil and an hours labour, so you can safely ride your bike without their ste substandard part fitted? I doubt it.
Why would you throw the oil away if it hasn't reached it's mileage? Clean drain tin & put it back in shirley?
If you're going to amount of effort you might as well stick fresh oil in.

Can anyone remember the bike the OP had? I want to see if it had a 204.

I took mine off last week off the Sprint, it was a 204 but not a recall batch.

Because that's about the most pi-key thing you can do maintenance wise.

On a par with part-worn tyres

What's wrong with part worn tyres? I use part worn track tyres on my road bike.

Was it not a daytona? Or a street.

At least this will shut up the naysayers, I had this a couple of years ago and if it wasn't for my superb belly ban on the track bike it would have been very messy. Whilst trying to diagnose it in the pit I found it almost streaming out the filter nut section. This has been going on for years by the look of it. It must be very hard to actually hold them accountable for any crash or damage to bikes after this, but neds will continue to use k&n to get the "extra 2 bph" on their stey saxos.

bks. If you oil that's only done a few hundred miles it's hardly financially or environmentally sound to ditch it and buy new stuff.

Indeed, last year after the first ride out on the Monster the sump plug was leaking. Turns out the crush washer had cracked and the the bike had only done a few hundred miles on that oil, I'm not going to bin £40 worth of oil for the sake of catching it and re-using.

Daytona 675, in black, with scorch marks...

Sorely tempted to send those pics of the fire brigade attending my incident to K&N along with the pictures of the oil seeping out of the 'nut'.

Probably just satisfy myself by calling them s every time they come up in conversation though...

Do you put new tyres on every time you ride? That must be expensive!

Not at all - this is what Twitter is for! Tweet K & N with all the pictures and see what they say. Especially as there is a recall out for it.

You just might get a useful response from them and at least may help to warn others as you have here.

I think the 675 uses the 204 so possibly should have been recalled.

Once I get Imgur sorted out I'll repost the original pictures but I've just had a look at those I took on my iPhone and the code on the filter/canister is clearly seen here:

So thanks K&N. You bunch of s.

It does. I much prefer my hi flow now. Comes with a handy pre drilled hole for lockwiring.
