Any recommendations on these, I have diamond clip-ons, so I was just going to get this.

But I saw cheap and cheerful ones on ebay that are probably st for £10.

But I thought i'd ask on here.

I reckon the cheap and cheerful ones will be fine, its just a bit of bent metal and nothing safety critical.

MTB - I had a Rizoma guard on my R1 that got nicked - looked just like that in your link. It was something like 89 quid.

I then thought I'd take a punt on one from China off eBay - it was 11 quid or something daft, free delivery, came in a couple of weeks.

It was 100% IDENTICAL to the Rizoma, there was a spare "blade" and extra spacers from the Rizoma and they were 100% indistinguishable from the Chinese down to the tiniest little machining and mould marks.

They're the same product from the same factory, no doubt. Only difference was the posh Rizoma packaging.

That's the jobbies.

I'm going out to my garage later - I'll take a pic of a mix of the 89 quid and the 11 quid parts. They're all in one box and you cannot tell one from the other.

I'm was just looking at these yesterday for myself. Only thing is I have R&G crash bar ends so I assume the right one needs to be removed

Why are people fitting these, unless they're going racing?

The same question could be asked of any number of items worn/fitted by the average motorcyclist.

Having said that I clipped on of those big cones in roadworks last year and did wonder at the time if the guard had saved my bacon. I'd say they were quite a good idea given that experience.

I know a chap that went down with a bang when a plastic bag got wrapped around his lever - locked up the front in a jiffy.... so yes, they have their uses on the road too...

Not that it matters a toss for a brake lever gaurd, and not with regard to yourself Alex , but those of you convinced by the " identical " appearance of certain items , bear in mind that that is what copying is ... the Chinese do it very very well indeed and if not a safety / stress bearing item , who cares ?

However , the remarkably similar appearance of many items out there such as brake levers , rearsets and of course the almost identical Brembo branded but copied master cylinders and discs out there in abundance , is really worrying .
Pay your money and make your choices on these particular items but do remember that the " quality " genuine items have metal content and tolerance quality controls in place , these costs only need go into making good copies out of cheese for the others .....
Enjoy smile

This is why I'm thinking about getting one. Not racing but a track day. I personally wouldn't bother on the road.

This guy was following some of us (I don't personally know him) and pushing maybe a little hard. Braking hard into a right hander he clipped his front brake onto a guy on a white R6 who was parked next to me... The rest was history. Guy didn't do himself much favours and bike was a mess

https://youtu.be/iAycLqPJo_s

So no I don't race but I do ride on track and that's the reason why I'd run one

Trackdays maybe, although the guys comments (see photo) sum up his riding for me. It's a trackday not a race and the rider who slows down has done the right thing, rather than force a pass on a lesser talented rider further ahead.

The plastic R&G ones are about £35 and seem pretty sturdy
The race scrutineer will check it doesn't rotate freely, and it should cover the tip of the lever

Didn't know that, cheers graeme. That's the route I'll go down then plus it'll match the R&G left bar end
