Good work Simon and team. I was watching it on TSL, and looked a good race.
CT racing have asked me back for Donington, so it's a shame you're missing that one. I think they want some good points to try and bridge the gap, so they've asked Jake Ebbage to race with us too, who's flying at the moment
Should be a lot of fun

Thanks Graeme

I’m gutted that I’m missing it, but other plans have been in place for a long time now and can’t be broken. The gap is going to be quite a tough one to bridge to the team in second place, as the race results at nearly every round tend to mirror the championship standings.

If I’m honest, I feel like the old saying, “always the bridesmaid, never a bride”, the podium is so close it’s tantalising.

Good luck hunting Mutts Nutts down though. Only two rounds to go and the gap is 31 points, so a big ask. I think we’re 38 behind CT Racing, so won’t be catching you, especially as not there next round, but it’ll be interesting for 4th place as Team Army 3 should get enough points to wipe out the buffer we’ve built on them. My consolation is that we’ve missed two rounds this season, whereas they’ve done all all of them.

Croft will be my swan song, as knocking it on the head after this and probably selling up. I’ll do the odd trackday on one of my roadbikes though.

Good read.
I so badly want to do an endurance race or two. With weighing up my finances for next year, a whole season of racing might be unlikely, so I may see if I can get into this endurance lark.

48s in the wet is good going. I know the feeling about always finishing 4th too!

Gives you some idea of how wet it was at Cadwell, although it still doesn’t do it justice

I’m the guy in the red / black leathers overtaking the camera bike (twice)

My first ever race was there, in the wet. The start/finish straight was flooded. Good times.

It was the same on Saturday, just doesn’t come across on the screen as well.

I can semi see it. The straight just seems to hold the water and build up and up.

Anglesey didn't go so smoothly.
Crashed in race 1, locking the front end up into Rocket. I can assure you, I am not breakdancing.

Race 2 finished 10th. Race 3 finished 11th but on the tail of 9/10th.

Race 4...well, my team mate crashed on lap 3 at turn 1. Deposited the contents of his engine over the track. I was the 3rd person along after him with the first two having huge moments on the oil. Me, not so lucky. The marshalls hadn't got the flags out, let alone the diminished adhesion flag, so I go in fully committed to it. I mean, it felt great, right up until the point that I'm sliding along the tarmac at 80 ish wondering wtf just happened.

Team mates bike is basically written off, snapped the lock stops on the frame. Mine is battered but thankfully it's just small bits and some fibreglass that needs sorting.

It’s got to hurt your wallet at the very least all this falling off wink

The season’s nearly over so you’ll have plenty of time to save up over winter to do it all again

Indeed, the wallet takes a pounding. I've had 4 offs this year. My mate has had 8...

I will need to be like a hermit over winter I reckon!

Sorry to hear it but fair play for continuing to crack on ,.....

Quick Q, how the hell are there vans parked that close to the live circuit ?

Glad you’re alright. That sounds really unfortunate at turn 1. Makes you realise how fast a corner it actually is!

Hidden by the marshalls post at the top of the hill. Zero chance of hitting them.

I was nervous last year about crashing, and ended up crashing out on the second to last race of the season. Got the bike fixed up and apparently for the last race I was 'on it'. So whatever fears I had got wiped clean.

I trust my gear now to look after me. Sure, bad things can happen...

Did more racings.
I suck at Cadwell. For some reason I just can't get the right feeling there. I'm capable of sub 40's easy, but I lose 4-5 seconds in the last two sectors because I just wimp out or something. Lack of confidence.

I still scored 4 points place finishes, but I didn't get the top tens I was after(15,13,13,12).
Still loads to learn. I might need a tuition day there next year.

One more round of the season to go, Oulton, on the 21st Oct. Can't believe my second season of racing is almost done frown

Can I ask, as a ball park figure how much do you think this years racing has cost?

I am flirting with the idea of some amateur racing on a CB500 in Thundersport but I am wary of costs.

Entry fees and testing(some full days, some half days)- about £3000
Tyres, last longer on a CB500 than a supersport bike, and cheaper, so for me, about- £1650. I've bought a new set of wets. And I buy a new rear each round, and front every second round.
Fuel for bike and to/from circuit. £500 ish
Food and drink. - take your own rather than pay at circuits.
Any spares etc for crash damage.

On a CB500, all in, maybe do it for less than £5k.
