O ring on the alternator was leaking when I first bought it, but soon fixed that.

There is that. Personally I wouldn't go as far as court but id be asking for proof of speed.
Proof of being able to distinguish between the van and you. All in writing and if they can't submit this I'd be asking for a written response as to why.
I did think of that, but if the van were going any faster than me he'd be running into me? I guess it could be argued as a technicality, but I'm sure I would have to escalate it, go to court, fight the good fight etc, and I'm sure they have ways and means of differentiating which vehicle they are looking at in a queue.

He was right behind me at one stage, then next time I looked, just as I saw the speed van, he was way back. I guess he saw the speed van and hit the brakes, whereas I didn't as I thought I was in a 40.....

You get to choose on of two or theee options only. Course (if slow enough), fixed penalty or court. You don't get to ask questions at all unless you select the court option.

I'm not actually sure what the 'must have' biker apparel currently is. Dayglo leathers? Goretex? Carbon fibre?

I bought the jacket ten years ago, the helmet is just a helmet, the trousers plain black waterproof, I don't do 'looks'. Looks are for fashion conscious pimply 18 year olds. tongue outtongue out

Having had my collar felt I have learnt very quick exactly this. Be polite but question everything, contest everything and have them prove you guilty beyond reasonable doubt. If they cant...fk 'em

On my occasions I may not have been a perfect picture but I was not in any way portrayed as alleged, and to save paperwork and court time they have tried their best to hit me hard immediately
You only get to do that in court. If you're just going to court to be awkward, then it's a daft approach, as it'll cost a lot of money and potentially a few more points too.

Apologies this is what I meant. I've done exactly that too and had it dropped with insufficient evidence

Many years ago I would accept straight away to try and get a lesser punishment etc etc and had the book thrown at me so now they can suck my balls. If they can definitely prove it then fair play but if there's any doubt I'm going to contest

Full on power ranger or you're not a 'biker' wink

And yes I put that sticker on there and it lasted all year before finally someone (probably council) removed it

The OP has posted two crystal clear photos of him that they've sent him. I think he's bang to rights, shirt of risking PCoJ which is serious st for a minor fine and little inconvenience.

I would imagine the first thing a million people have said when caught for speeding was "how do you know it was me".... and insisted on evidence.

I would also imagine they have some method of actually proving it, or they would probably all be out of work right now.

If I didn't think it was me, or if I was sure I had not been speeding, I might contest it, but I know I'm guilty so I'll take the hit. Retraining course booked for Thursday morning, should be interesting.

I assume I will be rubbing shoulders with some of the smartest and well educated young men in the country, eager to impress me with tales of their hot hatches....... that probably have less horse power than either of my bikes..... laughlaugh
