I take it you set off and sorted out accommodation when you got there?

Lovely. I've always wondered about the movable shock mount arrangement. What does it enable?

Changes the effective spring rate and damping.

Veloce Ltd was an innovative company. They came up with the positive stop footchange and hydraulically damped swinging arm rear suspension. Unfortunately, post war, they innovated, at great expense, bikes that nobody wanted to buy.

It's neat, but I'm not sure how I feel about engine bars on a road bike to be honest.

Thanks

Yeah, we would just ride all day then in the late afternoon we would look for accommodation near by.
We found some cracking places and we don’t have to stress about being in a certain place by a certain time

On the train to pick up my new bike, if it ever arrives. The train is already running 19 minutes late mad Reminds me why I don't use them regularly.

New (37 year old!) bike has landed.

Slightly scruffy, but hopefully mechanically sound.

Hasn't been used for 10 years, so needs everything looking at.

Much happier getting lost on the way home biggrin

Very pleased with it, although the panniers made for very nervous filtering. They'll be coming off for the commute I think.

Please give us your thoughts after a few miles. I'm really interested in these having loved my 1190S

Well that was a decent day, it rained all morning whilst I was working and stopped when I finished for the day around lunchtime. Got a nice 70odd miles around the Lake District which is all new to me!

I'm sure you'll come to terms with it. I reckon the ones I fitted to my Tiger Sport saved me a big bill that one time.

Another lovely looking bike, which probably sounds even better. Jealous!

Why would anyone replace the wonderful Brembo P8 calipers or perhaps Goldline calipers that this bike came with and fit those puny Honda twin piston calipers. The swept pad area is probably less #bewildered

Thanks! Yep, it basically changes the spring rate by altering the angle. I only ever really change it between riding solo or with a pillion smile

I think that’s a little unfair hehe

The war stopped the Roarer when supercharging was banned in GP racing after activities resumed. Would’ve been interesting to see where that led.

Like all British manufacturers they were guilty of resting on their laurels but the Venom and Viper were very much bikes that the public wanted.

Of the “others” the LE was actually quite successful and sold in decent(ish) numbers. The Vogue and Valiant not so much but I actually think they were ahead of their time which I guess is the issue when you innovate - sometimes you back the wrong horse!
