Going part time to spend more time with my son. So yeah, unfortunately that makes this one bike too many.

Not a shameless promotion when I say I'm fking gutted though, it's been an absolutely fantastic machine.

I'm not going to lie. I think it'd still look great with some matching shiny white and black tassels on the handle bars.

The annual KDMC 'Bikes in the Park' at Beveridge Park (that's Kirkcaldy, Scotland wink) got rained off earlier on the year, so a new date on Sunday indoors at the ice rink. A fairly low-key event, but usually some interesting bikes - particularly some of the old racers and vintage stuff that used to race at Beveridge. I'll also take the Indian along and stick it on show; and if my mate's going with his van I'll maybe get the '84 GPz along too, So an opportunity for folks to take their own entries for 'A Picture a day' for next week smile

And so here's my picture for today...

Been away for a few days to Northern Wales , with Mrs P, had this route as an outline but didnt exclusively keep to it.

Couldn't believe the difference in the road surface between the UK and Wales, potholes where the exception, not the norm , even on the smaller roads and it was so much quieter.

Bought a pair of cheap intercoms, just to see if it made much difference to the journey, only £60 but for us, worked brilliantly, past 80MPH and over the 1/2 half mile, they struggled but on the smaller , slower roads where my good lady was a bit sketchy I was able to help and guide her, well worth the money for our use but for use at faster speeds on m'ways and longer distances, they wouldst hold up.

following a recommendation form the forum, downloaded the Scenic app, using the "extra curvey option" to make our way to our 1st nights stay.

Took twice as long to get to our start point but we did take in some amazing roads most of the way.

Problem was, some of the more minor roads had an obstruction or two.

The intercom came into its own here as I managed to talk the Mrs into crossing what was quite a deep and long ford, shes only been riding a couple of Summers and was swearing all the way across at me!

fair play, I did think id have to cross back over and make a big detour but she made it over with just wet feet!

Another surprise was the sun and warmth, we went away on Tuesday and came back this afternoon and it didnt rain on us once! In Wales!

We had some overnight rain Wed night and a few miles of wet roads here and there but it was warm everyday, amazing!

....I have rad NW police have a reputation for being tough on speeders but I only saw 1 van during the whole journey, on the smaller quieter roads , there didnt seem anywhere to park one anyway.

Harlech castle.

Llanberis Pass..

Id not been to Wales since the early 90s but ill be back again very soon for definite.

Recognise a lot of those roads as I grew (!) up round there ... glad you enjoyed it. Always worth exploring if you have a few days.

Today I’ve mostly been enjoying:

I was talking about replacing my CB1000R with an MT10 or a Tuono, but after riding this, I adored it.

It’s not perfect, the suspension definitely needs an upgrade, but the engine is just lovely and it all feels really fun. It’s the antithesis of the Honda as it’s got plenty of character and it looks great. Got a really good trade-in on the old bike and this ex-demo came up, so couldn’t resist!

I have the blue version, changing the rear shock made a big difference.
If you put an exhaust on, the fueling will need looking at.
I went the rapid bike route.

Keep us updated how you get on with it. smile

I wouldn't be doing that st either!

Rode through a foot or so of water before (flooded road). Was fine until it got deeper and water started splashing straight up at my visor and I couldn't see, but obviously didn't want to stop and put my foot down.

Will do!

I think I'll settle with it for a few months before going Ohlins (bit over the top, but why not). The Akra double can exhaust from the Abarth looks great in my eyes too, so I might go with one of those; and will definitely look at an ECU reflash, Woolich racing looks good and I can fit a quick shifter too then.

I had an exhaust made, it looks like the Abarth twin at the back, but has the extra loop underneath that the akra doesn't.

I didn't buy the Ohlins for these as it ships with a 9 spring and you have to buy another weight spring to change it.
Where the Nitron I got is sprung and valved to the weight you require.
I'm still not decided on the front suspension, so it's standard for the moment.

Nice exhaust!

Yes, that is one thing that does bother me about the Ohlins - the cartridge kit at the front has no springs, so at least the right ones could be chosen. I did fit an NTR R1 to the rear of my old VFR 750 and it transformed the bike, what have you got on yours?

Been enjoying a few bikes today as I'm on the hunt for a new bike

First up was this

Lovely lovely looking thing, it sounded brilliant on full throttle with a wicked induction howl, and rode really well apart from a crap gearbox but not in the slightest bit sporty and I'd be bored or kicking myself after a ride out with the usual suspects, a great second bike maybe, but no good as my only bike

Then this

Shame it was pissing down so I couldn't properly thrash it but it was great fun, the engine is fantastic and it feels so light and flickable, the electronics are pretty good and it pulls mega wheelies, its a contender

Then I had a go of this

At this point it was in a thunderstorm, all I remember is lots of noise and wheelspin when I opened the throttle, I cut the test ride short and headed back to the dealership, it was a bit scruffy underneath for me for the money they were asking, I will have to try one on a dry day if I can.

Next up was a Street Triple RS (I forgot to take a pic), by the time I'd got to Blackburn the rain had stopped so I had chance to have a good play, the dash was lovely, the brakes were stunning and it rode and handled really well, but the engine was disappointing after the MT, it felt a bit dull to be honest and it certainly wasn't as quick in the midrange despite being 20bhp up on it, nice but not £3k better than the MT.

I don't know what else to try to be honest, I don't want an MT10 or other 'super naked' so might just buy the Yamaha, they are brilliant value and under 8k new with a few accessories thrown in.
