My 125 crapped itself 3 weeks ago, the big end bearing collapsed so new big end, mains, conrod, small end, piston and genuine Yamaha head gasket at £50.

The barrell has been re-honed and I have cleaned the damaged head as best I can, this will be another £400 ish rebuild again.

I have also been accused of cheating over my 1.5 oversize TZR piston.

Hopefully it'll be back together in a couple of weeks.

Loved these ever since I sat behind one at some lights in London. As I followed him off I could see small flames popping out of the exhaust and the noise was outrageous.

Cheers dude ... I'm happy with it, couple bits I might change but will be done over Winter. I'm fixed now other than some minor aches so want to get back on and see how it goes over the Summer.

K-Tech DDS35 Pro Shock, Woolich Quickshifter / Auto blipper and some extra pointless tat are going on ... biggrintongue out

Looks like a severe case of detonation. What caused it?

Looks great, you put that back together really fast. Glad it's just minor aches that's left to sort.

Thats gasket seal. The head gasket holes are quite small and don't marry up size wise to the waterways in the head and barrell.

The big end started to collapse which I guess canted the piston a smidge which in turn snapped a bit of the top ring off which rattled around on top of the piston before I could stop it.

Ouch, Very similar looking damage. Detonation would've been cheaper and easier to repair.

It would, I've had many detonation problem over my younger years back in the early 1980's, Its the reason I still ride with my finger over the clutch, I don't even know I'm doing it until I see photos.

That is really poor. I would 'port' the gasket so it worked properly. Really disappointed with that

I thought about doing that when I fitted it 3 years ago but for some reason I didn't bother.

I'll have a look for the old gasket.

Had a few days leave and grand plans for a couple of big day rides so got some new tyres fitted as commuting on the VFR had squared the S21s off quite badly. Hangovers put paid to the big day rides, but did manage to get out and cut some laps on a glorious empty (and Highway Patrol free) Old Road

Need to work on the chicken strips but I think I gave them a good work out
