Good pics. What have you done to the suspension?
Which brakes are you getting too? I keep looking at GP4RXs
I've got these calipers and also my Brembo M/C that I had fitted to my old R1 and then Fireblade.Which brakes are you getting too? I keep looking at GP4RXs
I've had fork extensions and a ride height adjuster/correct weight spring fitted to the rear. It has lifted the whole bike up which helps with ground clearance and also stability during braking. I am running the front quite high which has stopped the tendency of the back wheel coming off the ground during braking.
Its been a long slog but its feeling better giving me confidence which I have been sorley missing since getting this bike.

Couple from Portimao with the track just about dry, can't believe the difference in the bike now with the suspension upgrades, its took nearly 3 years to get it feeling right for me.#
Different calipers, M/C and a reflash on the cards soon.
You've got more patience than me fella...Glad it's coming right for you though.Different calipers, M/C and a reflash on the cards soon.
What's the story with bypassing the ABS system on the newer R1? Can it even be deactivated in normal use??

You've been persistent! I'm the same, I've always been a bit of a madonna to get my ergo's and 'feel' right on a bike. Slowly ordering the bits I need for my L8 1000 but ideally want someone to do the change from road to track for me as I'm flat out with workDifferent calipers, M/C and a reflash on the cards soon.
Got mine booked end Feb with MCT to sort suspension...its the whole stripping of road bits and putting on track bits that I dont like. Ideally need to get it mapped too in Essex area. I've heard MSG are good

Stop posting elbow down photos because I'm well jell.
Cheers, gutted I couldn’t get just over a tenth faster and get into the 39s! Maybe next time. Stop posting elbow down photos because I'm well jell.

Look good, should help with the brakes. If it’s anything like the BMW callipers then they should pay for themselves with the saving in pads too. I’ve heard people extending the swing arm on R1s to try and do similar things. I've had fork extensions and a ride height adjuster/correct weight spring fitted to the rear. Track days in December?! If Carlsberg did Christmas...
Id love to do some off roading as well (or buy a new bike) but its been mild and dry enough the last few days to get the LC out to see if the refreshed forks had cured the serious judder I had past 80, which im pleased to say it has but it would appear the speedo has now packed in...
Stunning bike "podman" - back in the late 70s/early 80s I had an RD 250D, RD 400C, RD 350A and a blue RD250LC.Id love to do some off roading as well (or buy a new bike) but its been mild and dry enough the last few days to get the LC out to see if the refreshed forks had cured the serious judder I had past 80, which im pleased to say it has but it would appear the speedo has now packed in...
Loved them all!
Then I had no bikes for a while, but late 90s I had an RG250 that I swapped for another RD 400C and added a KH500 - I do like strokers.
Hopefully I will get a garage soon - then I'll be looking for a 350 Elsie.

I went out today as well. I didn’t ride that much in 2018 and wasn’t that bothered until the salt started going down then I really wanted to go out. Took the opportunity as it’s been really mild for days. Enjoyed it but I’m well rusty on the bike.
Still working on my MiniCustomBike, had a long break since July for work & racing reasons,
but have been in the workshop every day since Christmas.
From this idea.....
to this final version took hours and hours of measuring, triple-checking, cutting, welding, grinding.
There are about 8 pieces from 3 different mudguards mixed together, in order to make it "looking stock",
like it had been done in the China factory ( and to hide the +12cm swingarm ).
The remaining welding seams will be closed with tin by a body shop buddy.
Double sharknose rear lights will hide under the Bobtail and the number plate will act as mudguard extension,
and covering the "Dakar gap" between tire & mudguard from behind.
Internal strengthening will be added, hopefully this thing will act and behave like a hollow beam,
so everything hangs in mid-air without visible bolts and struts.

Sleek looking thing that mate....
Few pics from todays Classic Car and Bike meet at Stony Stratford, some real cool looking and amazing sounding bikes and cars about despite some morning drizzle.
I've recently bought and recommissioned a 1975 one of those, F9 Bighorn. Quite rare in this country as they were only sold in America and Canada. Haven't been out on it yet though as the DVLA decided I needed to have it inspected before they'd hand out a V5, their inspector will be coming round next Monday. Nice one Tom, I need to get some thicker gloves and some decent socks but it was very enjoyable today, the Yamaha heated grips are utter garbage on my bike so my hands were pretty cold after a couple of hours and called time on what could have been a longer ride, I'm going to put a loudener on the bike this year as its too quiet and maybe some hand guards to stave off the cold air a bit, I might actually ride it a bit more in winter if there's no salt down.I have been looking at the yamaha ones and the Koso Apollo grips or heated gloves for my xsr900.

Are those the heated grips with the button on the edge of the grip or a separate control?

They are the yamaha OE ones with the control on the left grip, I'd rip them off and fit oxford ones but I don't want to start messing with the bikes wiring as it isn't technically mine.I have been looking at the yamaha ones and the Koso Apollo grips or heated gloves for my xsr900.

Nice one.
Took it out yesterday, New Years day spanking. Oh, the fun, lots of torque of course with the 950 lump in it, popping and banging on the over run, but the handling, sublime. After years of mainly Japanese tackle, I'd forgotten what "planted" felt like, and surprised a few other riders out there with it's turn of speed.Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
