Not been on here for years really. Nice to see you're keeping well old bean.
I hope the daft pics have kept coming / keeping people entertained while i've been away.
Good to see you back, hope you're gonna stick around.I hope the daft pics have kept coming / keeping people entertained while i've been away.
I don't really bother now, can't be arsed if I'm honest.
Fresh rubber fitted to the SP2 yesterday. The previous set were on the bike for at least 6 years sitting in someone's living room, so although legal were definitely past their best. Also had some naff white tyre pen highlights on the sidewalls, so glad I don't have to look at those anymore.
I also took the opportunity to ditch the wavy discs on the front, replaced with OEM standard.
Bonus shoutout to my recently acquired Abba stand. I don't know why I didn't get one ages ago.

SP2 looks great. I took mine out last week, always fun to ride. Forgot to shoot a pic, so here's one I took last year. I also took the opportunity to ditch the wavy discs on the front, replaced with OEM standard.

As said before, I absolute adore your bike.
Now I've fixed/improved the CDI and completed the ignition/charging system overhaul (fingers crossed) and finally getting some quality time on it, the hunt begins for a decent standard-mount slip-on exhaust. I've already resigned to that fact any Akrapovic / Sato system is hen's teeth.

This SP2 malarky is killing me.
There's a nice 25k mile SP2 for sale with genuine Akra twin pipes in the same white colour scheme for about 3700 GBP...
Given my love for Ducati's of that era I'm really wanting one of these in garage along side the '996' race bike.....
I spent a very enjoyable day riding with two friends round north Wales about 15 years ago. Me on my SP1, with the others on an original Ducati 999 and Aprilia Mille. It was a very interesting comparison. There's a nice 25k mile SP2 for sale with genuine Akra twin pipes in the same white colour scheme for about 3700 GBP...

15 years later I bought a Ducati 999!

Thanks again for the compliments. Good to hear you're enjoying it. I have an Akrapovic full system (low-mount), restored, inclusive of a set of new Akrapovic Titanium sleeves (Carbon ones need replacing when they discolour due to heat after the wadding inside burns away), heat-proof decals, etc. - which I've stashed away as spare parts that I'll probably never use.
Could be persuaded to part with them if interested, although the low value of the £ and cost of shipping to U.K. from Japan might make the idea prohibitive...

Yep. She was the bike that got me into biking. So I had to have her. One of the original 2002 Castrol bikes - even with a letter from Colin and the SBK paddock pass they were sold with! Sold her minty mint with just over 4k miles on her, with Ohlins and TSR rearsets. Lovely bike but proper old school sbk long/low/heavy in handling. Glad to have enjoyed her, but she’s currently being enjoyed by another collector. Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
